Hawks & Suns Want Beasley

Post#1 » by magnumt » Tue May 29, 2018 11:40 pm

https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/250001/Hawks-Suns-Interested-In-Michael-Beasley

The Atlanta Hawks and Phoenix Suns have interest in signing Michael Beasley.

The New York Knicks also remain interested in signing Beasley, who played for David Fizdale with the Heat.

“He likes him a lot,’’ said a source close to Beasley.

Beasley already owns a home in Atlanta.

Beasley played for the veteran's minimum of $2.3 million last season.

“He definitely wants to come back to New York and play for Fizdale,’’ the source close to Beasley said. “Fizdale is another plus. But it’s still a business.’’

I can never figure out what the hell either team is doing.

Atlanta let Milsap, Horford, Teague & Coach Bud go, but wants Beasley?!

Meanwhile, the Suns have Josh Jackson, TJ Warren, and Dragen "the bust" Bender. Plus, the chance at SF Doncic, and they want Beasley too?!

I'm praying Doncic pulls a Kobe like that article was talking about and he drops to us.

And about Beasley. Cool beans.

Good to know Mills/Perry aren't infatuated with him.

He should wait on the Warriors since Durant appears to want him.

He signed a 1 year Vet minimum deal. We have no bird rights on him.

I like Beasley as a player as irrational as it seems, but he's best served as the teams main microwave. We have about 9 of them, so losing him wouldn't really make much difference. He owes us nothing, we owe him nothing, go get his money.

Beas is a pretty valuable player, especially considering who we're paying our money to. If we had managed our money and team better, I absolutely would want to re-sign him. Can't hate on him, and wish him the best. Hope he gets the Hawks and Suns some wins next year.

I love Beas as a character, but I cannot see how they'd resign him for more than $4M per year as a bench piece.

And I really don't see any point in bringing him back if Fiz is going to emphasize a defensive culture.

If he can get more, he should follow the money TBH. He's not likely to have another big payday

I mean I'll miss being amused by his antics and quotes, and he's a brigadier general tank commander but peace out. This roster should be as bare as possible next year during ACL Tank Fest. Sign nobody, beg everyone to **** walk. If you need to fill the roster out take fliers on as many young players as possible.

Dude shot close to 50% from 3 as a starter.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2778419-michael-beasley-reportedly-drawing-free-agency-interest-from-hawks-suns

The New York Knicks are also reportedly interested in retaining his services.

Berman noted that the Knicks would likely have to use the $8.6 million midlevel exception or a portion of it to retain Beasley, adding that while other teams could offer more, bringing back Beasley for that amount—even on a one-year deal—could be enough.

"He definitely wants to come back to New York and play for [new head coach David] Fizdale," a source close to Beasley told Berman. "Fizdale is another plus. But it's still a business."

Beasley, 29, had an excellent season for the Knicks, averaging 13.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 22.3 minutes per game. He shot 50.7 percent from the field and 39.5 percent on three-pointers, providing quality scoring off the bench until Kristaps Porzingis was lost for the season with an ACL tear, after which he stepped into the starting lineup.

He was even better in his 30 starts, averaging 16 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 27.8 minutes per game, while his three-point shooting went up to 46.7 percent.

With Porzingis likely out of action until at least December or January, the Knicks will be in the market for forwards, be it in free agency or with the No. 9 overall pick in the June 21 draft. They could look to select players like Wendell Carter, Mikal Bridges or Miles Bridges, depending on who's available, but retaining Beasley certainly remains an option as well, particularly if he'd be willing to take a one-year deal to preserve the team's long-term cap space.
