Knicks are stuck with CLee until just before his contract expires. Like Aflolo, but for more years.

Maybe a little. I just don't see teams tripping over themselves to pick up a 34 year old guard jack of all trades/master of none, who also has two years left on his contract. The contract isn't terrible. In fact, it's decent. Still not seeing many teams wanting it. Usually, it would have to be a playoff team who wants someone like that, and those teams tend to be close to or over the cap.

Another bad team will be like "no thanks, we'll develop this guy over here who is making 3 million a year"

Limited market. Not zero. Just limited.

LOL... If we are signing vets simply to mentor our young guys then Beasley should be very far away from this team... If you want him back for pure entertainment purposes that's another story.

We need someone on the court like Beas who will be a go-to scorer for us. The young kids need someone like that on the court. This takes some of the pressure off them.

I dunno man, I think Tim is being paid to be that guy, if Kanter opts in ..well he doesn't even pass the ball so there is that. I think Burke might be given a fair shot to be a scorer for us as well. Lance will be chucking away as usual, Lee will get his points...I just think Beasley would be redundant.

This is fine. He's saying expect filler vet min turds to round out the roster. That 2019 is when we'll begin trying to play in free agency. This is all great news. He can't say on a podcast he hopes Enes and Kyle walk, he can't say he'll dump Lee for a sack of chicken nuggets.

Yea, no we don't. We need vets who will play defense, and pass the ball. We don't need vets using our playing time to get a new contract somewhere else. Beas got what he needed from us, and will get a good contract from someone. It's time to use his minutes to develop our own players.

Frank/Burke/Mud
Timmy/Lee/Baker
Williams/Dotson
KP/MFLFT
Kanter/KOQ/Noah
2 draft picks
2 2-way deals

That's 17 players. No cap space. No room for anyone. No Beasley. No Jack. Kornet would have to be on a 2 way deal again If they brought him back. That leaves 1 2-way deal.

Kanter is not opting out.

Kyle? Most likely. That's 4.5mil? What are we doing with that? Stretch Noah? What does that get us? 11mil or so? This is where you wonder what they will do. They can potentially have around 15 mil after these 2 moves. 2 open spots.

Lee. What do we do? No reason to keep him. Mentor? Is he even down for that? What do you get for him? Who would he fit with?

Thomas can stay and be a good locker room guy. Vet presence. His deal is basically an expiring. Whatever.

So...unless trades are made and/or the above moves with Kyle and Noah...these vets that are going to help with the kids are already on the roster.

It's gonna be a long summer watching this new approach the FO is taking. Are they any good at this? We are about to find out.
