Yes, that was the problem. They weren't bad players, but they were only role players paid Magic Johnson money. It really was the moment the franchise drove off the cliff.
If people think $4M for Baker is bad, Anderson & Eisley's contracts were almost like giving Baker a max contract in today's dollars.
