Good. I'm always in favor of the Knicks adding guys who can actually shoot. I've been saying for a few years the Knicks should fill up their bench with guys who can shoot, like every other NBA team (nearly) does, except the Knicks. But now added guys like Kornet, Dotson, Trier - it's a start

Before we explain why, here’s how two-way contracts actually work
Here are the specific details for the new two-way contract:

They will act as a 16th and 17th roster spot for NBA teams beginning next season (2017-18).
The player can spend up to 45 days with the NBA team that signs him, although no time is guaranteed.
The rest of the player’s contract must be spent in the G-League, either for the team’s affiliate or another’s if the team he signs with doesn’t have a G-League affiliate yet. For the 2017-18 season, the G-League will represent 26 of the NBA’s 30 teams.
The player’s pay comes on a tiered salary system, which can last one or two seasons. While in the G-League, the player will make $75,000. It’s a significant increase from the current pay structure for G-Leaguers, who cannot make more than $26,000 with a one-way G-League deal.
When in the NBA, a player with a two-way contract will accrue a day of service and make money consistent with an NBA rookie minimum, which is about $816,000 next season. If a player spends 45 days in the NBA, he could make around $204,000.
In total, a two-way player who spends the maximum amount of time in the NBA would make $279,000.
That’s a lot more money than the G-League has ever presented its players.

Interesting. So it's basically a lucrative G-League contract.

With one significant draw-back if some chose to see it that way. Limits player movement, they can't be called up by anyone but their NBA team.

Not a bad pick up, if nothing else he knows how to put the ball in the basket efficiently. Did Kenrich Williams get signed by anyone? I'd like that move.

I definitely see the talent, but seems redundant with dotson here. I would’ve preferred a bigger wing with some defensive potential.

Maybe they think Dodson can play the 3?

I don't think this affects Dotson at all. They are different type of players. Trier is a combo guard who can play the 1 or the 2. If anything this is just our Ron Baker replacement. Trier is a lot more skilled and talented than Baker so after some time in the GLeague and Baker's contract expiring next year, this is likely the guy who will make the roster in place of Ron next year.

Agreed. He can shoot, but isn't exactly a defender. Wasn't his AZ team mate a defender though?
Well, perhaps we still pick someone up but I am STOKED about our draft.

Nah, he not pookie. He actually had one of the highest bench press reps of all guards and also overall regardless of position at the combine.

He also was suspended by the NCAA for PEDs. Think dude was on 'roids.

In that case, will somebody representing RealGM extend an invitation to him to post here?

That's why those two-way contracts come in handy. It can actually push a player to excel to have to thrive in Westchester first before making it to MSG. Trey made it work for himself.
