Tolliver is 33
Try for younger players who might be down for a 1 year deal

What’s the amount of the MLE? 8.5mil or so? We need a PF. Beasley and Tolliver? No. Anyone else?

I think the thinking is that they need some vets for the locker room so that they dont have a maturity issue

Zach Lowe and Nate Duncan both mentioned that the Knicks are one of 6 teams that have the full MLE available to them in Free Agency. (8.5 mil)
They suggested that what the Knicks should do is look to snag a player that was looking at the 12-15mil a year range and lock them in for a 4/39mil contract as a value proposition.
It’s not a bad idea and maybe that turns into another trade piece. If it’s the right deal should be able to move it or if it’s the right deal it may be worth keeping on the roster
Smart, KCP, Kyle Anderson, Exum and Hezonja are intriguing possibilities.
Also I’m curious to see what happens with Julius Randle. If the Lakers drop his QO, might not be bad to sign him to a 1 year deal for 8.5million and test him out as a possible compliment to KP. Would definitely get the opportunity to showcase himself here

and if said player looks bad during the year or gets injured all of a sudden you're stuck with the deal. no more than 1 year deals for anyone that's not an all-star. why risk anything else ?

Can't be Tolliver. KP will wind up fighting him in practice.

Ok, is Super Mario a value guy on the way up, where 3 years at 8.5 worth it?

Random question: Why do we have two offseason threads? Is this one geared more towards the Knicks?

Not a lot of options considering we're only willing to give out a 1-year deal. Tbh, we probably get the most bang for our buck just re-signing Beasley.

It would be worth a try if we weren't stuck with Hardaway and Noah's deals, and had flexibility to take fliers on guys like that. But we already took risks on those 2, and it didn't work out.

I don't see Beasley taking a 1 year deal. He's 29 now. This is his last chance to get a multi year deal, pretty much.
Well if he does, he's an idiot.
So maybe he does take a 1 year deal.
