Should be interesting at the 3 and 4 spots. Defense is a question mark laterally at the 3 and size wise at the 4. Ah well.... it's another nice reason to tune in for entertainment.

team option. lol.

hezonja is here to beasley. show out and get paid, not lock into a cheap deal.

Yep...which is why I hate one year deals. Entertainment wise I love the deal though. Hezonja should offer some competition and depth with Knox at the 3/4. Defense is ever the question mark, but trust in Fiz.

players want the 1 year deals in the contract

Not bad to take a flyer on him. At such a great contract. Good job front office.

I agree. The fact that it’s a one year deal hopefully will keep his head straight but he’s super talented. If Fiz is who we think he is....6’8” athletic wing with range that play two through four, 22 years young...he has warts but we are very confident in our coaching and development staff. Clearly.

Welcome SuperMario.

him WANTING fizdale is a big deal. he had options and went for the discipline and development.

We had to sell Mario on the starting 4 spot. Small ball 4. He can handle the rock too. Good vision. In a prep year for 2019 free agency I want to see what Fiz can get out of these outcast.

Following in KOQ's tradition: we snag another young player from ORL who's cheap and should be a good value.

One-year deal, nothing to complain about here.

Super Mario vs. Timmey:

Mario Hezonja
.544 TS%, .515 eFG%, 9.3% TRB%, 10.0 AST%, 2.4 STL%, .066 WS48, 22 years old

Tim Hardaway Jr
.533 TS%, .496 eFG%, 6.6 TRB%, 12.7 AST%, 1.6 STL%, .067 WS48, 25 years old

Similar numbers but Hezonja is better defensively at a much younger age. Plus he's much taller and a better rebounder. He played about 60% of the time at PF and 40% at SF last season.

It feels weird that all of our moves since we got a new gm have all been short deals for young players. It feels almost wrong. Battered Knick fan syndrome.

What will his contract situation be after this season? He will be an UFA, but we will have his bird rights?

Bittersweet, I've would rolled the dice on the long term potential of Hezonja, but I understand their committed to the max free agent next year. Hopefully he balls out and becomes trade bait as it seems like it's only a one year rental.

i don't think hezonja wants a long-term deal at this price point. this is a "show me."
