The person that dolan might not pay its probably would be frank nitkinia when his rookie contract is up if frank doesn't improve. I don't think dolan likes frank nitkinia and probably think he is overrated to him.

It's too early to start thinking of Frank's next contract, but I doubt he's gonna demand a max or anything like that. We get to evaluate for the next 3 years, and if he improves, then we keep him. If he doesn't then we move on like Denver did with Mudiay.

I also doubt Dolan spends his time personally evaluating players

ANY extension Porzingis signs, does NOT kick in until his Rookie deal ENDS, which would be at the END of the 2019-20 Season!

His new contract would activate for the 2020 Summer, NOT the end of 2018 Season.

How?
This is KP’s 4th year. He’s a Free Agent next summer. That’s the end of the 2018-19 season. That’s when his contract extension would hit.

Don’t rookie deals last for 5 years? I thought they can take the QO (if offered) in the summer of their 4th season if their team doesn’t make them an offer and they get no offers as an RFA.

IE Noel was drafted in 2013

13-14
14-15
15-16 - summer of 2016 - could have been offered an extension
16-17 - summer of 2017 - RFA, got no money, took the QO
17-18 - summer of 2018 - FA

Why would KP take a QO?

No one gets to use that as an excuse here.
If you’re the man, be the man. We can’t pick and choose who we give excuses to, no?

We haven’t had a PG since Jason Kidd retired. Didn’t matter when critiquing players.

I wouldn’t do it, but I imagine BOS is going to make a godfather offer if there’s any turbulence with this process.

Probably LAC MEM SAC and two of their own plus Rozier or Smart plus RWill

Have some stones, people. He's not walking away from tens of millions, and if he's not smart enough to realize that waiting for his extension greatly improves his chances at winning a championship, then we should let him walk.

We don't need another Melo.

Does his new contract kick in right away though? Wouldn't he still have to wait for his rookie contract to end next year anyway before his new deal started?

Why are fans always asking players to do what the front office should have done from jump?

If Mills dumb ass didn’t sign Timmy we aren’t having this convo, but because he did now the superior player has to wait to secure his bag so we can go get actual help. Timmy didn’t wait.

We are looking at 35-45m in cap space next summer. Among the highest in the league. Not sure how anyone can argue we messed up the cap. Noah and THJ mistakes aside, we've actually done a good job of managing the cap recently, one of the good things we've done along with drafting.

It's called having a plan and executing it with patience. The Knicks will max him out, but, timing is critical.

The cap isn't fuqued. It will be if we max him too early. And it is to his benefit financially to wait, too. He'll make more money in the long run.

And if they trick off their cap space because he has a burning desire to get paid now, then fans like you will complain, like they did with Melo, that the Knicks can't build a team around him.

The only league with a harder cap is the NFL. It creates a situation where you cant have your cake and eat it too, like Yankees players. KP can get paid now, and blow his prime on THJ being his sidekick through his prime, or wait a year, make MORE money, and have the possibility of being on a contending team open up.

We don't need another Melo.

Right, so regardless of them agreeing to a new deal now or next summer, KP still has to wait another year to get paid. So really there are no games being played and this has nothing to do with people not wanting KP to get paid. Everybody is aware that KP is going to get his money but whether or not they agree to a new deal now or later it doesn't affect his pockets for another full year.

Sorry, I’m one of the few that never complained about Melo’s money. I complain about the Knicks being dummies. Melo didn’t sign STAT. The Knicks did.

The Knicks can’t build a team because they have money tied up in Timmy, Noah and Lee. That has NOTHING to do with KP. KP didn’t sign them.

Just like Melo, it’s not KP’s responsibility to help the Knicks out. This is business.
