Healthy kwahi makes them favorites in the east quite clearly.

Interesting.

What are the chances Raptors marketing team will try to make Kawhi the King of basketball in Canada?

There were rumors that Kawhi wants a bigger recognition/shoe deal. If they make him the guy in Canada. Perhaps he will think about staying.

Kawhi will be a Laker next Summer, The Lakers knew it would come to this which is the reason for all the one-year contracts. The Raptors get to be interesting and shed salary next Summer.

The Raps really want to get over the hump and I guess this is one way to do it. It'll suck next year though when they have to overpay 3rd rate talent to try to fill that void.

We all heard the same exact thing about Paul George.

The current team is not getting it done in Toronto. This is a good move, it will either go very good or very bad. And in the NBA you want to be very good or bad, not stuck on the treadmill.

Hell of an upgrade IF it's straight up for DeRozan and Kawhi is healthy.

And I can def see him stay in TO if there's no major setback. Paul George was supposedly a lock to leave OKC after the first year and look what happened.

Well, if it is this years pick it would be the end of the 1st round. Chuck in a 2nd rounder or 2 instead, but a very late 1st isn't all that bad if protected.

Either way raps have options if they find out they can't re-sign him

The thing is if we feel he won't re-sign we could always trade him again at the trade deadline or the only way he can get a 5 year deal as opposed to a 4 year deal is either by signing with us or a sign and trade so we can still recoup some assets

If the above doesn't happen and they can't re-sign him there scree because they would still be over the cap and cant sign anyone of significance

A pick will be included but who cares it will be a late first, I would even throw in some pick swaps as raps will likely have a better record then the Spurs so no swap would happen

If the pick isn't the 19 pick though...my comments are coming from experience. Things can get bad quick. It's a good trade as long as the future isn't mortgaged, because a lot of Raps fans had it with DD anyway. Hopefully Kawhi has an MVP level season and doesn't pull any stunts.

He definatly pulling stunts lol I hope it's not the Alonzo morning situation.

I do see a sign and trade happening next off-season with the Lakers though. They could sign 2 max free agents if they trade us Deng and some assets

I almost edited to add that (a S&T to LA). If it's not working out so great it could even happen at the trade deadline. Puts the Raps in possibly a good place to rebuild. How is Lonzo Ball going to look in Toronto?

It’s not what Kahwi wants, tough. Good deal for both teams.

Not what I expected Kawhi to net in terms of assets for the future but I’m also thinking that Kawhi being a weirdo, him being on a 1 year deal and the fact that his injury situation is still unknown led to his value being diminished.
