Seems just as one dimensional on offense and a liability on defense as this year's version of KP for the Mavs.

Looks like nobody in this thread was right. Knox is truly one of a kind.

He doesn't have the quick twitch muscles and straight line speed of Marion.

Right now right now he doesn't really have a position. He's kinda like a forward version of Jeremy Tyler. There's talent in there and he'll show spurts but can't seem to put anything together or gain any head of steam. Other comps (using former Knicks as comparisons)? A scaled down version of Anthony Randolph? A beggar man version of Tim Thomas?

He's a smaller, less mobile Tim Thomas... I think that's a good comp.

Rudy just had poor shot IQ and never really grew out of that. He got to the Spurs way too late in his career IMO. Pop would have done wonders for him as a young guy.

Tobias Harris is a good comp as well. Knox may be more athletic than Tobias though but Harris really improved a lot since he's gotten in the league. If Knox can have the same improvement curve with better athleticism he could be a real force for us

Welp...If you were wondering this improvement did not happen

LOL. The problem with Knox is that he has no confidence, drive or intensity. If you don't have that it doesn't matter how talented you are.

Damn, even the Rudy Gay comparison was too optimistic. He's not even poor man's Rudy Gay. More like poor man's poor man's Rudy Gay.

A bit awkward that he probably needs to play like Miles or Mikal to have a future in the league at this point

I like this one the best. Poor man's Tim Thomas. His biggest knock was that he lacked the desire, even though he had all the tools. Athletic, high flyer, good shooter, good size for his position. You put even 80% of an MJ or Kobe mentality and work ethic into Knox, the dude is a star. He seemed totally comfortable riding pine all year. The dude doesn't give a fck and it sucks for us.

To be fair.. even fans in general board were making the same comparisons as y’all did in this thread after his summer league performances

Tim Thomas IIRC was a low-end comparison for me when he came in. I still see that as a possibility. His shooting %'s were pretty good this year (took mostly 3's, TS% > .500). Put him on the Warriors or Hawks where he would be asked to play bothersome defense and green light to shoot he would thrive. That's not our team, not our system. We seem to try to look for a "best" shot not a "first open" shot and that turns into Iso-Randle or Iso-RJ.

Knox let down the homers and even the least optimistic people. Quite the accomplishment. Lol
