this deadline and then next summer will be the true test if our front office has evolved from mediocrity! "Butler- 2018 -missing -meniscus" at 30 million per? "Kyrie- Amare-Stat waiting to happen 2019" at 30 million per? whats wrong with some of you ? stop settling and dig deep and connect with your ability to be patient- PLEASE....

Well then, by that criteria who on the roster of our big money guys are moveable on his own for an expiring? Kanter? And that would only be b/c he's an expiring contract himself

none of them. we are filled with unmovable contracts.

But but but you can move THJ, Lee and LT for expirings w no assets...

Committing bigger bucks to either Butler or Kyrie scares me if they are going to be in street clothes by the time the playoffs start every year

Not when you consider the cache Butler has around the league if you trying to convince a Kyrie Irving to leave BOS or something like that.

I'm not disputing either players' quality, just adverse to another Amare contract destroying everything again

oh course there is risk involved but whats our other option? If a couple big names actually want to come here we have to jump. There is pretty much question marks surrounding almost every player and the few that have no question marks aren't available.

Its not like Kevin Durant is coming to NY or Giannis...

Kawhi/Kyrie/Butler all have injury concerns but I still wouldn't hesitate bringing any of them in they would be huge FA gets.

i mean the doctors whould have to OK them but I don't think Kyrie or Butler is projected to have microfacture knee surgery midway through there deals like amare.

People weren't even willing to give amare 4 years....because they knew he knees would crap out after 3...we gave him 5...

Look at JB year-to-year mpg avg and then come back to your senses. No tread left on them tires

i dont fully get your point

honestly

be patient meaning what?

This same summer KP is getting maxed out

are you suggesting if we simply sit by and let Frank, KP and Knox develop without adding max free agents along side were actually going to get somewhere?

I dont see Frank becoming his best unless he's playing with a Kyrie
I dont see KP becoming his best unless he's playing with other all star caliber players
I dont know what to expect for Knox and Robinson until they actually play but they are far from sure bet franchise players

I think a lot of people look at Phily and see only the bright side

that is a franchise who missed more than they hit. they tanked for ages and basically got three players of value out of several top 3 picks. Embed and Smimmons and Saric and perhaps covington. thats not a high % of return for all those picks

meanwhile we have 3 lottery picks on this team - not including all the cast aways we've picked up - and Patience to me sounds like expectation of stardom from them

personally I see KP as a star, Frank as a supporting player and Knox as a great 3rd option with the potential for some all star level play

IMO you need to swing with guys like Kyrie and Butler - or preferably Kawhi and Kyrie - because that gets you from potentially good to actually good

thats not fair to Butler who's never been in street clothes instead of the playoffs

and Kyrie missed this playoff but he's kinda proved himself in the post season a little I think

I suppose it will come down to whether or not we have superior medical clearance this time around since before this org's medical due diligence was terrible.

Before that bridge can be crossed we'll have to see what Pills does to clear cap space

I'm not really in this to argue with any vigor for or against. I simply have strong caveats that I believe must be handled responsibly by this front office in ways that were miserable failures in the past.

I respect what Steve Perry has done so far and I'm reasonably confident he won't offer a max to a guy who can't cut the mustard on his medical clearances.

That's all I'm saying really.

As far as fit goes, the only thing I'd add is we will learn this season how KP is when he returns, how Frank is progressing and whether Mitch and Knox are future stars.

If all four of those guys excel or exceed expectations, it puts less pressure on a front office to use max deals IMO. You may not agree with that, but I think Pills are probably approaching this season from a hardcore evaluation stance before they pull the trigger on any max deals.

If we land another stud in the next draft and our guys are not years away we don't know what we will need, but it may be only a single quality free agent, not two like some push for.

He came back in April. If it wasn't for the injury, he was on pace to play over 3,000 mins last season.

he had a pretty productive playoff series. It would be a gamble but in terms of making a move would we be in a position to be choosy if say Butler wanted to come? Do you think we would say no? I doubt it.

All I'ma say is some of you dudes have learned nothing from our errors of the past.

Just stay away from all players who have played the bulk of their career under coach Thibs. His players die a swift death after how he overuses them.

Rose, Deng, Noah as case studies. Butler is someone I wanna stay far away from for that alone. Like I said earlier. Just look at his career year-to-year mpg avg.
