Re: BERMAN: Courtney Lee Wants Out
It's a short sample size, but Lee averaged 11.1 ppg (55.8% fg's, 50.0% 3pt fg's, 100.0% ft's) on 27.0 mpg in 7 games off the bench.
If Lee can continue averaging 10+ points a game off 45/40/90 shooting percentages, I see no problem having him play 28+ mpg next season. His numbers with the Knicks over the last two seasons have exceeded his career averages all across the board.
I can see why Lee would prefer finishing out his contract with the Knicks rather than play with a contender right now.

Re: BERMAN: Courtney Lee Wants Out
Trading Lee to Portland makes a ton of sense. They desperately need a good guard off the bench who can stretch the floor and play good D. They run a 3-guard set with Turner (who sucks) so there are plenty of minutes for Lee and salaries match with Moe Harkless.

Of course he hasn’t said he wants out bc no common sense says that when you request a trade, there’s a demand market for you.

He's not a scrub and saying he is really is ridiculous and laughable.
Scrub is aggressive bc Lee is a solid player, but with that contract, he’s basically untradeable wout giving up assets.

With his defense to go with that shooting, he's a really good rotational guy that could be great for our second unit & kids.
Would provide a great balance to Burke & Hezonja on the perimeter, if Dotson isn't ready to excel in that role out of the gates. Assuming that we begin the season with Frank - THJ - Knox - LFT - Kanter starting...Mitch coming on for Kanter (or sometimes Lance) typically being the first sub of the night.

Dotson isnt going to be ready to excel at any point. hes bench fodder. and that assumed starting line-up should make for an easy top #3 pick.
There's something about an underdog that really inspires the unexceptional.

Lee's contract is solid. If OKC had madea trade for Lee instead of Melo, they'd be in a better place now.

Re: BERMAN: Courtney Lee Wants Out
Should have signed Eric Gordon instead of Courtney Lee when we had the chance.
He could have been traded for Jimmy Butler OR been enough to rid of a contract that never should have happened.
Instead, Courtney Lee saps the available cap room.
