Covington is good, Dario is overrated, and a 2nd? I'll rather have 4 1st round picks.

When the Knicks wanted him, it was for KP and Knox. Of course Sixers get him for Saric and RoCo.

That is suuuuuuuuuuuuch a crappy package for Minny. ESPECIALLY considering what they have up initially to get Butler. :nonono:

Yup. Embiid is a bit of a shyster but the dude obviously gets down to business when he needs to. Might actually help Simmons. Fultz... well, he's ****. They'll be fine.

Same camp, there’s the risk of messing w the youth there, but worth the risk for that deal. If any problems btwn now and end of season, renounce his ass and have damn near 2 max slots. Had hoped Pills would do this deal for same setup, but slow grind

Those 4 ist rounders probably had protections on the ones that mattered.

Covington is legitimately a 2 way beast. Dario gives them the Bjelica replacement they needed off the bench and is still pretty young.

This deal was better than the others because Cov is already on a solid deal even if it's not as good as Richardson's and they dont have to pay Dario until after next year so they can still flip him if they'd like.

The trade offers for Butler had to be better in the off-season.

Wolves settled for less just to finally get Jimmy out of town.

Jeez...

Only the last one could. Think about it - if the others had protections, it would violate the Stepien Rule because they would then convey in back to back years.

LOL @ people crediting a tank.

Good deal for Philly. Meh deal for Minnesota.

Philly needed to get another impact guy summer 2019. This move ensures that. They’ll still have some dough left over too.

Embiid and Simmons have already proven they’re not built like Towns and Wiggins. They’ve also won in the playoffs which the Minny youngins haven’t. Jimmy will be an asset there, not a hindrance.

Philly didnt get any of the assets they used in this deal by tanking. Maybe saric but that's just because Hinkie forced Oralndos hand ( gulp... that was perry)

They traded for a future first and a guy who wasn't going to come over for another 2 years.

So you get 1 unprotected pick with the Rockets who would have Harden still in his prime (albeit a little late) 2 picks with the core of CP, Butler, and Harden. 2 of those in their primes. And then a protected one... yeah that deal isn't as good

When you have enough assets from tanking, you can deal the assets you got another way.

But they got the other young pieces on their team by tanking and having those players is what made them able to make this Jimmy trade possible. They're not gonna make a trade for Jimmy if they don't have Embiid and B.Simmons and others on the team to make them a contending team.

This. And this is what I meant. I replied to another poster before I saw you covered it.

No, Perry and Mills said publicly that they aren't gonna trade young assets for players that are about to be free agents.

I dunno. I liked the Heat deal and the Rockets' MegaPix deals better.

You know the Rocks deal was basically 4 2nds though

This is pretty wild...The Wolves definitely got the short end of the stick when another team was offering 4 First Rounders. Wondering how many touches Fultz will get?

Rockets deal would’ve been more of a heist than this, at least Thibs got players that can contribute immediately to salvage MIN now.
