That might fool you but it doesn't for me though it does effect the scoreboard.
I just don't get the allure of ball dominant, inefficient guards no matter how flashy they are. He shot barely over 20% from 3 and only got to the FT line for 2 attempts. He needs to do better from those so he's not consuming so many possessions to get his points, if those things improve he'll be much more effective and that contributes to winning ways.
He's not terrible but those types of things separate the good from the great.
Totally agree.
As someone who was a DSJ detractor whenever he came up around here, it's intriguing to me that he's made strides in his scoring efficiency this year. He's nowhere close to the bottom of the league this season like he was in his atrocious showing last year (57th out of 58 guards in TS%, sandwiched between Marcus Smart and Lonzo Ball), improving this season to simply below average (46th out of 62 guards in TS%, sandwiched between Donovan Mitchell and Victor Oladipo in TS%).
So it's cool to me that he's clearly been better already. Now that he's a Knick I hope that trend continues upward rather than plateauing...

He likely is but as the saying goes, that isn't saying much. If he doesn't improve his efficiency he's a treadmill team PG, not a contending team one.

For as strong and hard he drives to the hoop he doesn't get very many FTs as compared to someone like Trier who can live at the line, it doesn't make any sense. Of course he needs to make them when he does and though his 3pt % need to get a little better it's really his overall FG% that holds back his efficiency but that comes more from his 2pt%.
Interesting he's between in TS% a couple of other guards who get alot of love on this Knick forum and across RealGM forums that few of them would suspect that of him. Does that say something positive about him or negative about them? Hah.

i would definitely agree the TODAY he's "treadmill" but I have a feeling that he will buy into whatever fiz tells him and if Fiz is
capable of inspiring and build a young player with potential into an all star- I think it could happen with Dennis...

He is too limited of a player to have any serious impact on a team's success or failure
Brandon Jennings/Ish Smith/Reggie Jackson/Darren Collison level guy
