If AD cost way too much (5-8 draft picks) then you have to pass unless they value top 3 pick over Tatum (I doubt this).

I would rather call Washington and ask if Bradley Beal is available.

Kevin Knox or DSJr.

Yes I'm being greedy but also patient. Imagine a AD/KD/Zion front court. Lol

Regardless of that I think DSJ will only get better! I like the oladipo late bloomer comparison

You have to consider the possibility that KD won't come here if he's the only one.

If he needs another star to commit before he signs, do you still pass on Kyrie?

This post is the difference between just business & attaching feelings.

Great post.

To be honest I don't want no long term cap attached to no 30+ old players.

If we sign Kyrie, we almost have to keep DSJR as insurance. Sell him on this being his team in the future and winning 6th man if the year in the meantime. He’s just so competitive idk if that works

Quick note. This doesn’t seem like a reoccurring injury. All Kyrie issues has been on his left knee. This time it’s the right.

Hopefully it’s just a sprain but man I’ll be cautious giving him the max.

Can our front office survive the perception of striking out?

What I think happens?

KD stays.
Why wouldn’t he if they can win four in a row??
No? That’s besting MJ.

If they lose, maybe but...
are we sure we want to go this route?
How hungry is he here? How sensitive?
How patient? How happy? How healthy?

Especially carrying a larger role than he’s ever had to as a pro; regardless of who we get (he’s played with two MVP pgs and Harden too) its a downgrade for him.

And to convince him it’s even worth his time, we sacrifice the farm? Why is he coming here?
To save Dolan’s franchise?

The basketball draw if any was KP.
And it made sense like Lebron teaming up with Kyrie in Cleveland. Now? Why? We won 11 games so far. He’s THAT big a Mitch fan? I mean I am but still....

I think we need to ready the spin that we aren’t locked in to one guy or any star chasing in free agency.
We need to get ready for the Phillys and Denvers and Sactos and Phxs, who are amassing the talent for sustainable success in the post GS era.
We STILL have no timeline other than the self imposed, intimated free agencypalooza.

Why not build with the kids and see what we have?
I’m not sold on any of these guys as far as giving up the moon for. And I have a hard time seeing them leading us to a chip. They get old real fast. And our window shrinks. And on the contracts we have to give them....

AD ends up with a dark horse like Bkn or Chi.

Ainge lowballs Kyrie (knee woes).
We flirt but pass (knee woes).
LeGM maxes him out to win the papers.

Kemba resigns for Conley money in Charlotte
We make no offer. We talk. But no offer.

Kawhi goes to LAC who trade for another star.

We have a real conversation with Klay.
Impressed both ways. He goes back to GS, predictably.

Jimmy B. takes some other fool’s money but not ours.

Vucci goes to Dallas. We don’t care.

Boogie goes to Atlanta. Dominique is a good friend.

We draft fourth.
What next?

he’s faking an injury so these fools don’t make a top 4 seed and his exit is smoother.

Kyrie's injury history is troubling and might be too much of a risk handing him a max contract. I doubt the Knicks traded KP for Smith Jr just to be a stop gap. Im riding with DSJ as the future and going after Durant and Cousins this off season.

If KD says he is signing a 4 year max deal ONLY if the Knicks sign Kyrie to a 4 year max deal, too, then I'm not sure the Knicks should do it. It just smells like a huge cap strangling mistake lurking that will keep the team tread milling for years because Kyrie can't stay healthy.

If he will sign it with other max cats coming along then I'm still down with it but Kyrie is the one who gives me the most pause.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

Kristaps6_NYK wrote:DSJr is an emerging star, 21 years old. Still so much to prove. Doesn’t cost as much, doesn’t have as much bumps and bruises on his body. Granted Kyrie is a HOF player, hit a legendary shot that won the Cavs a title. But we’re building a young culture. Kyrie has that New York mentality.

Hypothetically speaking, if we can get Zion, think of that hype between DSJr/Zion... then you can make deals for someone like Beal and sign KD.

It doesn’t get any better than this right now. Good times

Stars bring championships. Stars bring stars.

If you get Zion, trade him for AD, sign Kyrie, sign KD, sign Cousins.

Kind of a fragile team, but that's a super deadly core if healthy.
