Those options are literally cancer. You sign Kyrie then you trade DSJ for a bag of skittles and roll with Frank as back up. Trier has shown enough to justify that he'll be a more valuable scorer AND more efficient off the bench than DSJ has shown in 1.5 years.

My options

1. stick to the rebuild

2. If we don’t stick to the rebuild, go all-in on Anthony Davis. He is the only one who is young enough and not injured enough to make it worth it. Then use AD to lure KD. Build around AD for the rest of his career. Anything less is a treadmill team and will land us in cap hell soon enough.

My dream scenario

DSJR
Kawhi
KD
Zion
Mitch

I really don’t want to give up all our assets for Davis and he doesn’t commit

Sell Kawhi on not having to be the #1 option, seems like he prefers that.

This thread is the equivalent of Celtics fans last summer asking if they should trade Kyrie because Rozier made him expendable.

Ntilikina
Teodosic
Trier
Dotson
Sefolosha
Gay or Korver (Gallinari would be perfect)
Knox
Vonleh
Kornet
Jordan

That would be my depth and its pretty complete

I'm definitely questioning DSJ as a starting PG in a winning team but i'm still taking him over Trier without a doubt.

Kyrie is gonna average almost $35M/year with that frail, injury riddled body.

I'd love Kyrie to come, he's proven to be super clutch not only in regular season games but in playoffs, but his injuries can really scare me off.

DSJr reminds me of a more athletic, young Kyle Lowry. I think he could get stronger esp on the defensive end.

No way do I want to rely on his health. Not for a third of our cap space. When he misses the playoffs...then what? Amar'e 2.0? I can't imagine any Knicks fan wanting to risk that again...immediately after getting out from under decades of injured star players conning and going.

I'd rather roll with DSJ. I'm definitely not trading away our assets for another star at the same time we gamble on Kyrie. We've seen that play before.

For me, it solely depends on Durant... if Durant says *only way I sign is if Kyrie comes along, then damn it I'd have to say to do it.

But if KD says "I'm signing here regardless of who else comes" then I think you hold onto your cap room/flexibility until AD is a free agent the following year

Would suck to let DSJ come off the bench, but you don’t pass on Kyrie if you can sign him.

Kind of torn on this ine

im kinda torn but the more i think about kyrie's injuries... the more i wanna stay away from him. i really believe DSJ is a star in the making so i would like us to develop him instead. and this is coming from one of kyrie's biggest fans here

Not sure that would suck especially if DSJ buys into it and understands he would still be a big part of this team backing up Kyrie and i could even see those two sharing the court in certain rotations together. If he would buy into that and knowing he would learn from playing behind a PG like Kyrie it could end up helping him in the end and with Kyrie's injury history he would be a good one for us to have ready to take over. Boston never makes it as far as they did last year without T.Rozier sitting and waiting behind Kyrie.
