Enough with the potential great lineups for next year.
I'm concentrating on what is the most mismatched, unbalanced roster the Knicks can deploy vs the Cavs. Not the least talented. Not the worst defensively (though that's always nice). The one that synergistically combines the worst offensive and defensive attributes and then multiplies their ineffectiveness.
Say, having bad floor spacing in the front line combined with poor shooting in the backcourt.
Or, if the team has to play a somewhat offensively bad front line, but it's good defensively, ruin it with poor defenders in backcourt.
Obviously, any of these lineups will feature LFT, preferably at SF.
So far, the obvious candidates are LFT at SF and DJ at C. There are concerns that this is the beginning of good defense, but I'll take my chances DJ will be disinterested enough. Already the offensive is compromised by DJ's lack of a jumper and LFT's all around ineffective play.
I think Dotson has to be the SG, as he's a good defender, which is troubling, but teams can overplay his jumper with the poor spacing LFT and DJ provide.
Here we go:
PG: DSJr - can't be too obvious. Hopefully the Cavs pack the paint, dare him to shoot jumpers and he's cold. Kadeem should play 20 minutes though
SG: Dotson. I thought of Trier for defensive issues, but too strong a chance he might score.
SF: LFT
PF: Vonleh - especially how he's been bricking lately.
C: DJ
2nd unit
PG: Trier
SG: Knox
SF: LFT - he's gonna play 48 minutes or until he fouls out.
PF: Mario
C: Kornet
The spacing and offensive ability worry me, but the defense is bad and Knox is playing out of position.
Mitch needs to rest this game.
