OT: FINDING GIANNIS – Knicks only team in NBA that never scouted Giannis Antetokounmpo

No dagger was needed to further crush the Knicks during their 10-46 season, but here’s one.

As a teenage Giannis Antetokounmpo began to rise onto the scene in Greece as an NBA prospect, teams started to take notice stateside. Almost every one, in fact.

“Except the Knicks,” Giorgos Panou, Antetokounmpo’s agent, said in an upcoming documentary on the Greek Freak, set to air at 6:30 p.m. Saturday on TNT.

Antetokounmpo wasn’t getting much attention at first, until Panou contacted Jonathan Givony, who at the time ran Draft Express and now works at ESPN. Givony went to Greece to watch Antetokounmpo, and after being struck by his potential, posted highlights of the 6-foot-11 stud on Draft Express.

“Scouts started flying to Greece,” Panou said. “Every day at practice, at games, executives, GMs, assistant coaches — every team came. Twenty-nine teams, except the Knicks, New York Knicks.”

1. Knicks never even passed on him, since he was picked before their pick of THjr, so it doesn't really matter too much

2. There were 14 picks taken before Giannis, so what does that say about those teams???

3. Stupid article to just make fun of the Knicks, when it is really the other 14 teams that should be regretting their mistake not taking him.

So this is supposed to be a shot at the Knicks? Make us feel bad or something? We didnt even have a high pick that year. So what about those 14 teams that scouted him and still passed on him though?

It is rather odd the Knicks wouldn't have scouted him, but I don't see the reason to mention this now.

I mean, I really don't care, for a litany of reasons

Also says more that 13 teams scouted him and passed on him than anything. But even then, nobody knew he'd be this good, or even thought he'd be this good

He's a great case of how much of a crapshoot the draft can be sometimes

It’s not a big deal, but I do think it’s newsworthy.

Shows horrific scouting and not covering their bases. I wonder if they even scouted Gobert who was picked soon after Timmy.
