12 teams from across the continent? The only thing going through my mind is what an absolute nightmare the travel component of playing in the league might be. The African continent has 17 - seventeen! - countries that are larger than Texas. It's just an absolutely massive place with a good deal of logistical complication. I really hope it works because I think it'd be amazing for the sport of basketball and hopefully for the people in the cities that get teams.

I'm sure the league has already thought the travel aspect through to get the best they can out of it, placing teams strategically to maximize travel efficiency, but I'm not sure how much they can do to hold off the impact the sheer size of the continent might have on a sports league.

Knicks better start scouting tf out of Africa. Time to get ahead of the curve. Lots of unrefined talent to be found in the mother land.

i bet schedule will reflect that. can't see them trying to do an 82-game season. european leagues already have like 1-2 game per week schedules.

It's insane that this hasn't been considered earlier. Same goes for improvement of humanitarian infrastructure as well as African economy in general.

So europe will be where you go for good passing and Africa will be where you scout for good defense. I'm not mad at it at all.
