No, but I really like his short story "I have no mouth and I must scream"
That...is not a reference I thought I'd see in this thread.
To be honest with you Ellenson is pretty bad. He often just didn't know what was going on when he was out on the court. Wasn't really able to bring much to the table. He seems like a really good guy, I'm glad he's getting another risk-free look from someone, but I don't think he's an NBA level player.
Counter argument, and I don't doubt your word:
Kornet looked pretty bad initially. One of our trusted talent analysts on here, who will go unnamed at the moment
, who attended the same school as Kornet, didn't like his game AT ALL and was puzzled why the Knicks used a 2nd round pick on him. Yet his combination of smarts and shooting have made him useful, but in a good shooting, end of the bench, hanging on the end of a NBA roster kind of way. I mean, no kidding ourselves, if the team was any good, Kornet wouldn't see playing time. But he's kind of flashed some stuff where you can see the guy kicking around the league 5-8 years, if only because he's tall and doesn't completely suck. I'm sure there were some 2nd rounders the Knicks passed on after him but it wasn't so bad after all.
At one point, a while back, I wouldn't say I trusted the Knicks "in league" scouts. I'd say their college scouts got good first, then their Euro scouts, but last few years, but noticeably since Perry & regime took over, the Knicks have been really solid in uncovering are decent, even if it's after some work. I'd assume this is a flyer on a big as the Knick depth is a little light there, they have a roster spot, why not. As you say, risk free tryout.
