Ok, I get that the Rays are an excellent organization that deserves the respect of baseball fans across the league. I respect the Rays (didn't we steal our GM from them?). So how did you happen to turn your back on TWO NY baseball teams for the Rays?

My family moved to Florida when I was 13 years old in 1998 (turning 14) during the Devil Rays inaugural season of 98. We moved to the same city as the Devil Rays played in (Saint Petersburg). Same exact street and all (16th St). Went to my first ever baseball game vs. Boston Red Sox 1998, caught a foul ball in batting practice and as a kid instantly became fish hooked ever since. As a kid in NY the Knicks and Jets were my childhood and my own two sports hearts but I never liked to watch baseball as a kid. I loved playing little league baseball but never enjoyed watching baseball on TV like I did my Knicks and Jets but once moving to Florida as a kid I caught both Devil Rays and FSU fever and have loved them ever since. I'm 36 so 23 years and counting and yeah, I'll often look @ the standings and root for the Mets just because I'm from Queens but as a kid watching baseball never captured my heart quite like my childhood Knicks/Jets did.

My daughter (now 10) wasn't yet born but fast forward to 2021 and she's a Knicks/Jets/Rays/FSU girl we watch all the games together it's awesome man.

Hockey is a sport I've never been passionate about. Was cool to watch the Rangers celebrate in 1994. And I'll root for them and watch them in the playoffs but for some reason I've never been able to follow a full hockey season.

Agreed, though I still think we need some pitching depth.

How far would you go on giving up one of blueNorange's precious "prospect(s)" for Bryant?

It's gonna have to hurt a little.

I heard at the beginning of the year that the cubs wanted Alvarez, which would be 100% no go from me.

there will be a DH next year. He can also play a handful of games behind the plate every week too. Tough to commit a big time prospect to a for month rental.

I agree with respect to Bryant’s FA status but I wouldn’t trade for him unless we had a deal in place to sign him to an extension.

His agent is scott boras 100% he is taking his client to Free Agency especially with Bryant having a really strong year.

Bryant is a half season rental. That's why rumors Cubs looking at low-A ball. It's probably JD Davis + low-A ball (hopefully not JT Ginn) player and a PTBNL

As a general rule I'm not interested in a hired gun unless there's mutual interest in a longer relationship. Do you want him just for the rest of the season? I wonder what his splits are away from Wrigley?

Currently, Kris Bryant is hitting better away from Wrigley.

What are our options?

Josh Donaldson - 2 years 42 million left with a club option on his 3rd year

Or look at 2B and move McNeil to 3rd?
Johnathan Schoop - Free agent after this season; agent is Scott Boras
Adam Frazier - One more Arbitration year then free agent

Then we also might need a pitcher since the following pitchers are down.
Carrasco - rehabbing this Thursday in Brooklyn I believe. Hopefully end of July/August
Syndergard - going back to throwing after shutting down. ETA early September
Luchessi - out for year rotator cuff
Yamammoto - on 60 day DL
Peterson - hurt and hasn't been good
Szapucki - out for season

We don't need a star pitcher but a guy that can go 6 innings and yes I would go for rentals on pitchers.

you don't trade a prospect like alvarez, he's on the level of jr's/wander etc.

his exit velocity/barrel rate is the best in the entire farm syste, he consistently squares the ball and hits it very hard ala alonso.

to me the untouchables are alvarez, baty, mauricio, rocker, and allan -- jt ginn should also be untouchable but he can go if need be.

No to that psycho Donaldson. I'm not crazy about moving McNeil to 3B. Let Luis and Villar handle that.

Szapucki is out for the season? When, how, what? I did not know this. :noway: Poor kid.

My feeling is we need more pitching than hitting. I think our hitters will hit. Our lineup is solid pretty much up and down the order, if they hit like they normally do and it looks like they're beginning to all get in sync.

But maybe we can do both.
