You know what's wild is that he's chasing Judge's rookie HR record but Judge had a half a season before that "rookie" year where he struck out almost every other AB. Pete started pounding MLB pitching right from the start.

We blew too many games in the first half and even some in the second. Mickey's horrible even though he's improved a little since last year. Still, too many head scratchers.

What we do with the pitching staff and bullpen will be key. I think we need to keep Diaz and hope we can straighten him out before next season.

Dominic Smith is probably going to get traded and good for him. He needs to go somewhere he can start. He's too good to be a bench piece here.

JD Davis's glove scares me be it in LF or 3B (I expect McNeill to take over 3B full time next season).

What are we doing with Lowrie?

Stroman may have had the flu today. I just got over it. 4 days of no energy and no appetite.

You're looking at pretty much the same team in 2020 with small tweaks to the bullpen and rotation.

I don't think they resign Wheeler.

No way we move Diaz unless it's to the minors.

I agree Dominic gets traded although I'm afraid we won't get much for him.

Lowrie becomes super utility man. We won't be able to rely on Cano for a full year so there should be plenty of opportunity.

They roll the dice on an outfield of Nimmo, Conforto, Davis and Cespedes (if he comes back).

I didn't disagree with the main direction of BVW this season. I'm was all for a win now approach. But half the trades/acquisitions he did were bad. That Cano trade man... That package could have easily gotten us better players.


Most important thing this offeason, imo, is bolstering the bullpen.

I still rather keep Thor and Wheeler. I trust them. I think the starting rotation is good.

I'd trade Ramos and find a catcher that is better at framing and defense. That's important for our rotation.

I would drop Diaz to AAA. He should have been dropped this year. He is not the answer.



Next season we should be ok with everyday players if healthy (always a huge if, I know). Alonso, Smith, Rosario, McNeil, Nimmo, Conforto, JD Davis are all guys who can contribute. Then you have Lowrie and Cespedes (remember him?) to return and a good chance they contribute with their bat. And of course, you hope Cano contributes too, which I think he will.

I guess Todd Frazier is gone. I like him, but not worth resigning. I'm sure Lowrie can replace him.

I'd let Lagares walk. He isn't worth 9 million. Maybe Cespedes can replace him, but I doubt he wants to play CF after returning from injury.

So I guess next season would look something like this?

CC: Ramos/Nido
1B: Pete
2B: Cano/Lowrie
SS: Rosario/Guillorme
3B: McNeil/Lowrie
LF: JD/Cespedes
CF: Nimmo/Cespedes
RF: Conforto

I'm ok with that other than Ramos.

You guys sure Smith will get traded? I don't see where he can play other than backup 1B where he won't get enough time. I think he does get traded, but don't see any value coming back.

A 8th inning young back end bullpen guy to team with Lugo/Wilson/diaz

1-2 top prospects to help build the farm

Absolutely a good package for Noah who has been underwhelming and can’t hold runners on which we keep him from elite status because singles/walks turn into doubles and triples
