Randle at that price is a steal with the option. People are just bored and lack knowledge about what solid nba players are getting paid these days. Smh

If he played defense he'd be worth it.

I hear tell he's going to lead the team to 30 wins. Why bother?

No, if Randle played D. He would be paid in a much higher bracket. Think Tobias Harris.

He’s 24 trending upward that can do it all offensively. I wish everyone we have was known for defense but that’s not the case. You can get rid of the whole team of individual defense as a strength is what you are focused in. Sometimes it has to be a team thing. Mitch being down there is a start.

I liked the signing but then I got convinced the team is a 30 win team. Why tie up any money at all in a guy who's leading a team to 30 wins? If the team is that bad, just pocket that money - actually, the Knicks should have taken on some bums for picks.

Instead, it's a redux of THJr, where Mills throws some cash at a 3rd scoring option to be the # 1 scoring option, to provide some eyewash on an otherwise bad team. On the plus side, there is only a 2 year commitment, so I'd take it that is Perry's influence.

I don't get the optimism of some of you. :D

Randle doesn't cross half court with the ball and throw up a prayer with a full shot clock.

I don't need to know why. I figure it is just what comes with being perennially disappointed as a fanbase.

But I don't think anyone should act surprised if this is a .500 or better team. There is no dominant team in the East and a few good ones, that's about it. I know you're using bizarro logic to point out how upgraded this roster is across the board, but it should be obvious we can consistently put competitive units on the floor any time now.

Perhaps this will help people understand you better:

Yup. You know my game. I'll stop for now. But I see a bunch of players who should be league average, at least Randle somewhat better, and DSJr poised to take a step. Granted Knox is a below average player, but he doesn't NEED to play 30 mpg now. And while "even Lebron" didn't lead Cleveland to more than 35 wins or whatever, as a rookie, RJ should be a decent rotational player. Again, if he's not that great (which is fine for a rookie) - the Knicks have some options, granted not awesome, but decent enough, at SG, with Trier, Dotson and Ellington able to spot RJ through some tough times.

I dunno. With decent coaching, I see a .500 club. I'm not hyping them as anything more, just I don't see them as bad, and 32-35 wins is kind of bad. I think a good coach could get the right balance and effort to see .500

There's a lot of unproven youth on this team. Half a new roster. A coach who hasn't shown much. I wouldn't be surprised if they win 35 or more games but...there's reasons for uncertainty. Until I see how they fit/play as a team...I will temper my expectations.

Chills down the spine from Julius. Chills everywhere.

He's a smart guy and I believe he's genuinely tough. Dope video! This is what it's all about.

Not everyone though. Some people want to skip exit interviews and get the easy path.

I still know what you mean. Will be fun when it starts turning around a little.

He's certainly not lacking for confidence. The general board doesn't think he has a breakout season, I expect him to prove them wrong.

I see dsj and randle as our version of KJ and Chuck, this can definitely be something special if the other pieces fall in place.

I’m a little disappointed he skipped the World Cup. Would’ve been nice to get a sneak preview of him on the court.

So many jumpers off the dribble...this dude could really be a gem if that's real progression...improved defense would help a lot too.

wow. i really like that comp. not an obvious one, but roles exactly the same.

don't want to reduce barkley at all because dude is a legit HOF. kevin johnson should be a borderline HOF guy IMO because he was an underrated monster. DSJ has a long way to get to KJ's efficiency (granted KJ knew his limitations from deep). randle has a loooong way to go to get to chuck's anything except passing and defense.

but i see it.

There's some stretch 4 Melo in his game, and I mean that as a compliment.

It's hard not to get excited about Julius but I want to see him play a couple months before I buy into the hype. I also see shades of David Lee in his game and he didn't lead us anywhere despite putting up some gaudy numbers. But like Zach Lavine Randle's improved every season since he entered the league and those are the guys I usually trust because that means they put in the work. I really want to get excited.

This is exactly where my head's at with this dude. He's still young and clearly works on his game every offseason. He's getting to the point where it's just fine tuning things. That three point efficiency increasing even just a couple of points would be huge.
