Bottom line is Ellington should never see meaningful minutes

Bottom line is he actually should, as he's one of the few players on the roster who was above-league average in scoring efficiency last season with a .584 TS% (in 27.3 minutes per game).

Not to mention the fact that he stretches the floor, which is gonna help DSJ and RJ run the offense and develop their game. In fact, I think it's imperative that Ellington gets significant playing time.

Ellington had a very nice year last season.

I was at the Philadelphia high school championship game against Bishop Neuman at the Palestra where Ellington hit the game winner at the buzzer to win it. Drove all the way down the court and nailed the short jumper.

So maybe Wayne is somewhat overpaid for his overall skillset -- his positive trait being an above-league-avg shooter from deep. Decent shooters arent that many in the league right now so they can be perceived as premium. Remember, the knicks have been bad at long range for quite a while now, Reggie Bullock is also a good shooter IIRC.

It's possible Ellington will collect some DNP's, but I have a feeling he'll suit up most nights, though probably not in the rotation. I think the same about Dotson.

While Dotson is a pretty good shooter, and might have a better overall game than Ellington, Ellington seems more likely to be summoned off the bench, cold, and make 3's, then Dotson.

I think Ellington dresses as specialist. I think fairly often, Ellington and Gibson are the 12th and 13th guys. There if you need them, always there for vet guidance and motivation.
