It's crazy to think that the Giants pride themselves on drafting talent with a good head on their shoulders, no non-sense guys and then this happens...
Apparently there were warning signs before he was drafted.
If they really didn't care about character, they could have at least taken a chance on Laremy Tunsil instead of drafting Eli Apple...

So it looks like Baker is going to be able to move on from this.

I wonder if the NFL or the Giants will penalize him in any way. I guess it comes down to what is actually proven that he participated in. I doubt we see him on the field when a gun charge is hanging over him.

Hopefully, the kid is innocent and this actually scares him straight. Otherwise, it won't make that much of a difference for his career going forward.

Giants get his salary back to the cap.

This opens the door for Clowney, Everson Griffin, or Logan Ryan, if Getty wants to spend the money this year

Good news for the picks. Go earn it now and grow with Saquon and Daniel. Best of luck Nate.

So Baker was cut, now it turns out this was all a setup attempt trying to blackmail him.

nah he wasn't a good dude prior to picking him. and its very likely they are trying to pay witnesses off because his career is in jeopardy. The giants have bought into Joe Judge and we don't need that distraction on this team. Sunken cost and move on.

The person paying the witnesses was the guy trying to extort him. See those tweets above, they arrested the guy already.

meh, ill pass. He was horrible his rookie year too and had a lot of red flags prior to drafting him out of Georgia as well. Won't cry over spilled milk. Maybe he catches on to another team. We shall see.

I hope he gets another chance. I'm not necessarily sold on him as being a good NFL player or saying that he is a bust, I am mostly angry at the guy trying to extort him and taking away Deandre's chance to fail on his own.

I know many of the character issue players do not change their ways, but at least give him the chance to fail like the others have had. Throw that lawyer in the cell with no key for trying to take this young man's chance away.

my guess is the giants didn't cut him solely on that. They would have waited if there weren't other things that also made them say time to cut bait now.

I don't think we're missing anything without Baker. He was lazy and didn't take his opportunity seriously.

Could he have improved? Maybe, but I don't think he fits the character of the culture Judge is trying to build.

And also, Giants not looking bad at all in the terrible division. They are improving no doubt

https://sports.yahoo.com/giants-best-team-nfc-east-231908855.html

......it’s time to acknowledge what they are – and yes, what embattled GM Dave Gettleman has built. They are the best, most solid, most dangerous team in this crummy division.

The Giants are probably the best team in the division when Daniel Jones doesn't turn the ball over.

I also don't like Dave Gettleman.

Judge, Graham, and Garrett are making the most out of being severely underman with talent.

Also Columbo has done a great job with the OL...they have made huge strides over the past few weeks. I now can picture Barkley have holes next year!

The coaching staff has done a great job with a team dramatically lacking talent. Saquon with this OL play of late would be an absolute treat to watch.

Gettleman has to go. He is horrendous. Yes, Martinez and Bradberry were good signings and he has some good value picks (like Slayton) but he’s stuck in the 1970’s. Our weapons on offense are dramatically lacking.

agreed he still hasn't invested in a pass rusher...and I think we are competitive because of Judge and the coaching staff more than this roster turning a corner.
