I think frank, Dotson, Wayne will be the odd men out for the most part, unless injury’s or certain players start off very poorly

Dotson May take a while to get in playing condition. So we’ll see how that goes. Send Frank to G league until the second half of the season.

And I think RJ should be around 20 min. Give the other 5 mins to DSJR and Trier

Ellington needs to play imo.

.371 3P% and an efficient .569 TS% in 24.5 mpg last season.

His presence on the floor will help DSJ and RJ.

I want Mitch at 30 MPG

I can see these averages, but only under load management situations. Fiz isn't having a 13 man rotation nightly, but it's good to know that even though some think the roster isn't good they seem to believe Knicks have 13 rotation capable players.

And they do.

The starting lineup should be the only thing that is consistent with this team. There is so much depth that we can switch the bench up based on matchups and style of play. Who finishes the game depends on in game performance. Guys just have to be ready to play when their name is called. If you can't then next man up. Fiz and Co will have a scouting report made up and set the rotation based around that. Money Ball for the modern NBA.

That can't happen since he will foul out in 15 minutes

Um, no

He had major foul issues early which he subsequently addressed and made adjustments to correct.

He still ended up averaging 20 MPG which was due to him playing significantly more minutes per game the second half of the season after he came back from an injury break

https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/robinmi01/gamelog/2019/

As you can see he played less than 15 minutes only five times in the second half of the season

He’s not advocating a 13 man rotation. He’s saying 13 players will end the season with >6MPG.

13 players will see >6mpg factoring injury, garbage time, load management, and healthy position battles.

But the game-to-game rotation won’t exceed 10.

The real surprise here is that he’s optimistic on Mitch and DSJ. Because Portis and Payton will not be happy playing <20mpg.

It's clearly a statistical guess at their average minutes over the course of the season. That's why I put Frank at zero, not because I think he will never get a minute, but on average it could be close to zero if he falls out of the rotation which he is in danger of doing

Could more than 10 play in a game? Not probable, but if it happens it would likely happen earlier in the season

I want the NBA to allow 7 fouls per game as well.

The Ellington signing just makes less and less sense every time I look at our roster. It's pretty obvious Frank and Dot are probably the ones not going into the rotation at the start of the season and Ellington's minutes should go to them. I feel bad for Dot because he should be getting playing time. I wouldn't be surprised if he could get to 40% from 3 with Smith Jr and RJ getting him open looks. Who knows, maybe Frank surprises everyone and shows enough offensive game to get minutes too.

Exactly. I’m afraid fans are getting a little too optimistic about a 21 year old with 1 year of organized basketball since HS.

Personally, I’d line to see Taj start at center with Mitch given free reign to jump and foul as much as he pleases off the bench for another half season.

I see Dot and Frank riding pine for more whole games than people on this forum will be wanting to accept and I'm getting a feeling that Pillz has some 'our guys' mentality and those two are Jax guys.

I feel the same way. If DSJr is hitting his shots at a respectable rate and Dot comes back and can produce then Ellington should be the odd man out. He's basically an insurance policy is how I look at it.

Dot was the most consistent player for long stretches of last season. He plays defense and hits shots (most of the time). Not sure why you lump him in with Frank and his obstacles to playing time.

It is a numbers game and Dot might not play, but based on performance last season he definitely deserves to.
