Don't let the Net fans fool you. They want NYC. They think "the city will soon be theirs". They care about popularity and media exposure.
For that to happen, Knick fans will have to convert to Net fans because there are no Net fans. Anyone actually see that happening? If any of my family or friends told me they were ditching the Knicks to be a Net fan, I'd probably slap them. After all the chit we've been through, why switch now?
It isn't like Mets-Yankees where there's a large share of the baseball fanbase belonging to the Mets. There is no share of the fanbase belonging to the Nets.
There are no Net fans. They are a small market team. Nothing wrong with that. No denying they are in a better position than us. But they so desperately want to be the New York Nets which is never going to happen. That dream died with the ABA.
Knicks are New York's team forever.
