I promise you that stats don't always tell the truth. Frank and Payton are better defenders than DSJ is.

I guess you didn't read the part where I clearly said Frank is the better defender

And you missed the point entirely. I'm not arguing that DSJ is the best defender, just that his defense is underrated and that he's low key decent at it

The stats back up what my eye test tells me. DSJ is much better defensively than some people give him credit for. Stats tell the truth, just people don't always understand what they mean. As much as some people want to point to Drtg as the be all end all of defensive stats, it really is just a ballpark number. DSJ's individual metrics all say he's good. Not great, but good, which is what I see out of him, and what I argue he is.

I never understood the narrative that dsj can’t play d. Eye test and metrics back that up, he’s a solid defender.

Wonder where Dotson will find time?
Looks like he is OFF the injury report.

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/teams/NY/new-york-knicks/injuries/

Looking forward to next game:
Here is my rotation with explanation at the end)

C. Mitch-14 Bobby-10
Pf. Randle-18 Taj-6
Sf. Morris-18 Knox-6

Pg.Dsj-18 Rj-6
Sg.Rj-12 Dotson-10 Trier-2

2nd half)

Mitch-20 Bobby-4
Randle-18 Taj-6
Morris-18 Knox-6

Dsj-18 Rj-6
Sg. Rj-12 Dotson-10 Trier-2

Thanks for bearing with me. The rotation wont go 5-1 because you cant procrastinate perimeter play to that degree.
This is the outline i feel emphasizes a teams talent best. Going 1-5 on a rotation some may find it stretches your talent a bit. To each their own and i respect that different things resonate to different people.

In this circumstance, Trae young will be the pointguard which is why dsj will play there so rj can have an easier matchup.
Honestly i feel bobby may be the player than mitch right now but he is needed for defense for right now.

The hawks are a tough matchup imo. Hunter can be a stud or dud, i like the kid but his efficient production was low volume in college.

Mitch <Len
Randle > Collins This 1 is close for sake of argument, he gets the house vote.
Morris > Hunter "1st option" Morris gets my vote. Usually a top 4 pick would be considered better.

Dsj < Young
Rj > Hunter

Guess those would be my points of emphasis. Winning those matchups should have the knicks look like the better team. From SL and Pre-season i think ive seen flashes of them being a 'high octane' team

At least he doesn't have the hair. Can you imagine a season of that. On this board?!

I often thought it wasn't really hair, but a shredded dead chicken. If he had that now, I couldn't watch him on our team.

Just for sake of being thorough :
Normal 1-5 rotation)

Dsj-18 Payton-6
Barrett-18 Dotson-4 Trier-2
Morris-18 Knox-6
Randle-18 Bobby-6
Mitch-14 Taj-8

2nd half)
Dsj-18 Payton-6
Barrett-18 Dotson-6
Morris-18 Knox-6
Randle-18 Bobby-6
Mitch-18 Taj-6

It actually looks pretty good to me. Its because the knicks are extraordinarily deep.
Points of emphasis would be the same, winning particular position battles

would be cool if we have signed Randle + Morris + Gibson + Ellington.

No Payton, Portis and Bullock. Just 3rd stringer vets for the minimum or used the space to get assets..

I seriously don't see much playing time for Trier/Dot/Frank, which is really sad and also so ... knicks.

You think i'm gonna be impressed by the defensive stats of one of the worst defensive teams in the entire NBA? Hahaha

No one wants to impress you. Folks were trying to have a discussion armed with facts and reason. We didn’t realize who we were dealing with. Have a good night.

Besides Frank it's a list of average to bad defenders.

I had a great night by the way so thank you.

I already he isn't horrible on defense but he's also not good and he'll never make any all defensive team.

R.Bullock definitely is more than a 3rd stringer vet. He's really come into his own the last couple of years and has played pretty dang good.

This is what we know he can do, i'm hoping he found a jump shop cause that's what we need from our starting PG and what he hasn't shown yet.

payton is the real head scratcher. the big man depth is OK to me so long as they know someone's not playing much, if at all. i think taj has more in the tank than people (myslef included) expected and will want to be an animal for the city in a way noah didn't.
