I mean, I like Blatt as a basketball mind. This is just a strange hire when you factor in the role and the timing.

Con: Steve Mills ties, a move to keep his job and still he still has the power to pull this kind of move and make Dolan spend his money

Pro: Blatt is a great basketball mind and he retired because he was seriously ill, hopefully this means he's doing better

David Blatt is hired as a consultant

This just reeks of Mills desperation and I think it means he's staying around after the season. I love that he's also already undermining Miller by doing this. Can Blatt even connect with NBA players? I know he had a good record with the Cavs but it be tough to screw up a team with Lebron on it.

I don't understand the implications, nor do I understand the reasonings for the hire. Im ambivalent yet curious. Real weird position.

Nothing, at least relating to him actually coaching. He retired from coaching and he has MS so coaching is probably not gonna happen for him again. The fact that he's tight with Mills is the thing to be a bit wary on. Great basketball mind, but does this mean Mills is fine? That would be very bad.
