Man if Phil just traded Porzingis like he wanted to..

I don't think he's taking Tatum though. He's probably taking Josh Jackson.

Man that’s been a huge problem for us. We don’t know how to draft. Having all these draft picks mean nothing if we can’t ever get it right. Wouldn’t it be nice having SGA right now instead of Knox? :nonono: Donovan Mitchell instead of Frank? :noway: We could go on and on...Knicks need to fire the whole scouting team after those mistakes. Mitch has been the exception. Thank God for him.

I still think we are close man with the assets we have. Maybe we wait till the 2020 deadline to make moves but setting ourselves up with a team + draft picks and 1 open max slot should be enough.

We have to make a deal at the next deadline for a disgruntled star, I'm looking at Dame, Beal, Hield in that order. A dynamic scoring guard, with Frank and RJ and Mitch leaves us at one open spot for a spacing 4 or dare I say Giannis?

I can give a pass on Mitchell because he wasn't mocked as high as we were. Pretty much everyone dropped the ball on him aside from a few guys that watch college ball MUUUUUUCH more than I do. Most on our board were talking DSJ/Monk/Frank which kind of looks like a wash now. Knox just didn't make sense and it didn't even seem like we were giving guys a chance that weren't forwards. I had him on a do not draft list. In BAF I flipped after trading for Sabonis because I moved down in the draft where he looked like BPA. Took on salary to move on up.

Do we even have a chance at SGA if Mitchell is on the roster? After KP got injured we spiraled but with Mitchell and the rest of the vets (you know we’re playing them) we might have not been in position to draft him. Also probably means we don’t have the worst record in 2019 to get RJ.

Probably also means we never trade KP to not break up the combo.

A lot of things would be different if we take Mitchell.

Kill them for their bullchit in 17-18 of not getting a top pick in 2018 while wasting a lot of cap space for the pleasure to do so. That’s the nuke that blew up what was a tremendous window of opportunity. Everything else since then is ramifications from that.

Please let this regime be smart enough to play the long game

Suddenly, the league is in good hands going forward.

blows my mind that the pelicans got lucky in 2 generational drafts within the span of 7 years. what a joke.

Such a coincidence that the Top 2 picks in the 2019 draft went to the two smallest markets in the NBA that would have had to undergo a painful rebuild.

The smart thing that the Sonics did back when they drafted KD was to let go of both Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis for their prized rookie to have a chance of flourishing.

Now RJ is no KD but in my view we should have had the same approach. Give him the keys instead of getting short-term vets who both did not complement him and had their own motivations.

If that failed what was the worst that could have happened? I don’t think any worse than the predicament we are in now.

It is depressing to think that one of the reasons we may have not considered to draft SGA was that we already had Frank in our roster.

My mindset during that draft was to have taken MPJr and sit him out for a year. I didn’t even take a closer look at SGA as I was optimistic in Frank developing and ironically being someone who is what SGA is now.

Pelicans were handed that deal cause nba wanted the lakers to get AD instead of the pelicans pulling a spurs and trading him Somewhere else.

League gave them Zion and put the lakers at 4 so they got a decent pick back as well

All the while the slob playing the kazoo still thinks marquee free agents are coming here.

The NBA had nothing to do with it. Davis and his agent were always going to go to LA, so no team but the Pels were gonna pony up what they did.

No doubt in my mind the NBA favors small market teams. Not every team plays in New York or LA.

that’s what happens when you hire actual basketball savvy people. They have no other recourse and don’t deluded themselves into thinking some Star is coming to save them in free agency.

SGA would likely back up Elfrid Payton and Mitchell would be practicing his jump shot and watch games from the bench. Probably THJr would still be stealing his minutes because of how inconsistent his jumper would still be. Don't forget that their ability to consistently take over basketball games wasn't something anybody expected during the draft. Opportunity is everything and on the Knicks such a thing only exists for people that already come in with a big contract.
