Westbrook will get us more wins, but I think he will hurt the team chemistry and what we are trying to build here.
I'd much rather get someone who is a better distributor and defender.
Wish there was a way to get a younger and more well rounded guard on here.

We just need to suck it up and suck for 2-3 years and play the young players. From then we have a better idea what we have and then we look to spend money on talent once we have an established core.

We keep trying to add big players and hoping the players we draft will become great pieces as well. We are doing things backwards and have been for 20 years straight now. We just need people in the FO who are actually ok with losing and stop with this trying to win bull ****.

Establish a core and then add pieces later on. Westbrook is not the answer and neither is Haywood.

Ofc, if the FO trades one of them then the pick becomes a decent decision. For best immediate-trade-value available Obi's a defensible pick in the #8 position NYK found themselves. Arguably Deni would have been better, but

I’m hoping Thibs expands Mitch to at least the midrange. plus both move without the ball so the vertical gravity can offset some spacing issues.

Thibs made Boozer and Noah & Gibson and KAT work so I have some hope, assuming the stretch is real for Obi.

I’m just excited we have an offensive focal point w/ some real 25 PPG upside

Crazy that we only have 25 pages on this pick. We’d usually be on thread #2 by day 2.

Thx, Obama

Haven't read so maybe that video was posted, but this guy looks like a damned beast. I am thinking we have our best player here, RJ coming in second.

I got his evo card in MyTeam

Played against the rookie class challenge

First thing he did was post up LaMelo, spin baseline and dunk over Wiseman

It means nothing to real life, but I'm liking him more as time goes on.

His dad is a legend and Obi was putting on a show with him.

If we had a point guard he'd be a lock for ROY. At 23 y/o he damn well better be.

There's no developmental grace period with a guy like Toppin, he has to give us an efficient 20 PPG this year.

Yep. Nothing really works properly without spacing, which is why making this pick without a plan to acquire a guard that can shoot is a head scratcher.

Best case scenario is Toppin becomes a bona fide # 1 option and RJ is a # 2 or 3

RJ is a stat stuffer and I project him to be a high level glue guy on a contender. Not sure what people need to be sold on with RJ because he is already a well-rounded player who just needs to increase his efficiency and I expect he will.

What I like about Toppin is he has range. All this talk about Amare is fine when it comes to dunking on the break, but Stat was NEVER a three point threat. If anything he has a bit of KD in him with that kind of shooting touch.

So I can see Toppin becoming a legit # 1 if his dominance translates to the NBA

I understand rolling the dice on Toppin instead of picking a PG if he is that guy, because a legit # 1 or even # 2 championship quality scoring option is something you must have so using a # 8 on him can be a true BPA pick in this case

I can fully understand picking Obi at # 8 whereas Knox was a definite head scratcher

If Obi is a big time scorer then you take him and figure it out after the fact. I'm not arguing about the need for a PG and I'm also questioning their plans after re-signing Payton, but it still doesn't matter if Obi is a great pick.

Problem is, we won’t truly know how good Obi can be without a decent PG. Same goes for RJ and Mitch. Teams will pack the paint, cut off driving lanes and dare the team to shoot. The structure of the team is simply not conducive to development. The figuring it out after the fact is precisely the issue.

He wasn't my pick but I'll be rooting hard for the kid. If Knox could come around we could really have some fun watching them youngins grow together even if they lose a bunch of games.

I disagree. If he is going to be a big-time scorer, we'll know with or without the optimal PG

We know one thing for sure is that Thibs, Woody and Payne gonna do work on these kids mindsets. The staff is looking to catch some teams and I believe he tCeltics are within reach.
Can Obi be an all-star this year? Depends if fans enjoy highlight reels, cause he led the Nation in highligths by a huge margin last year.

With you my Dude, will be fun watching them develop under Thibs and staff.
