Kings make sense to me. They need to start winning soon before Fox wants out (even tho he did sign an extension). the Bagley situation seems like it's best for them to move on, and they actually do have talent so they should be trying to win: Fox, Hali, Hield, Barnes are solid. surprised they let Bogdan walk tho.

Image

Why the Knicks do it:
Randle has been great, but what is his future here after drafting Obi? I wouldn't trade him for pennies, but if they can get good value they should explore it b/c Obi was drafted to be the PF of the future, otherwise they would've gone PG. + Randle's fit w/ RJ/Mitch is questionable b/c they lack spacing.

This deal would net a couple 1sts, and Nesmith (need shooting) which IMO is good value, and the Kings 1st very well could be a lottery pick. the young talent has been so inconsistent that they should continue to stockpile picks b/c more picks=better chance of hitting on 1 of them

Why the Kings do it:
The Bagley situation isn't good: 1) he's underperformed his draft status (made worse by Luka) 2) there's drama surrounding him and his dad's twitter trade request (which Fox's dad was in favor of, kinda goes to show there are issues)

Randle would give them an upgrade and a shot to compete for a playoff spot (since the NBA thinks a play-in tournament is a good idea) and they'd have a solid young core. They already have a star in Fox, adding late lottery picks isn't gonna help them win sooner, but Randle will and Randle is likely better than whoever they would take w/ that 1st/helps them win now

Why the Celtics do it:

buying low on #2 overall pick from just 3 years ago. they could use a big and Nesmith + a pick that's likely a very late 1st is worth it IMO. maybe a change of scenery helps Bagley reach his potential, and the Celtics are as good a team as any for him to develop on

I legitimately love this trade idea.

thanks :D

I did think I was giving the Knicks/Kings too much so considered Langford instead of Nesmith and Celtics 1st going to Kings, but Julius has legitimately been playing All-star ball and is the reason this isn't the worst team in the NBA; he can help a team

That might be a little more realistic, but also Randle is the best player in this deal by a lot. Also from a fan perspective the Langford and Nesmith are interchangeable because they are so deeply buried in the depth chart. Unless they look great in practice there is a chance the Knicks could probably come away with both of them and the Celtics would keep their 2022 pick. Either way it’s a decent haul for Randle. The main thing is that Kings’ pick going to the Knicks.

A good pick and puts some potential young shooters around RJ

Not our team or our problem. But if Kyrie was coming back why not trade him for
Ben Simmons. Thinks it makes sense for both teams
or Paul George, not sure this makes as much sense for the Nets but just an idea.

CHA: Rozier + Zeller <---> Drummond + Rivers
CLE: Garland + Drummond + Prince <---> Randle + Rozier + DAL FRP ('21)
NYK: Randle + Rivers + DAL FRP ('21) <---> Garland + Prince + Zeller

Knicks receive: Zach LaVine & Nicole Melli (can decline QO)
Pelicans receive: Thad Young, Kevin Knox & one of the Knicks 2023 2nds
Bulls receive: Lonzo Ball, Mitchell Robinson, Frank Ntilikina & Mavs 1st rd pick this year

Zach is 26 soon and fits timeline with Randle. Lessens load for RJ. We keep our pick. Maintains 30M in cap to sign a Center to replace Mitch in free agency (Drummond?)

Bulls get a PG, allows Coby to play SG as he should, upgrades at Center by a lot and cheap. Saves a bunch of cap space. Helps the tank.

Pelicans aren’t keeping Lonzo. Gets a shooter in Knox and depth with Thad. Opens more guard time for Kira and NAW.

Zack is who we need. But without Mitch there is no hope for a top defense erases the overall improve the that a move like this should make.
-and there better be serious protections on that 1st

The Knicks defense is gonna be a lay-up line without Mitch.

There are not gonna be a lot of good options for a defensive center in free agency. Check the FA class. Knicks better hold on to Mitch.

You don’t think Drummond is at least a decent defensive replacement ?

Personally I don't. I never liked his game and he'll be a massive overpay. I don't think he can switch like Mitch can.

His teams have generally been better defensively with him off the floor. He was never a difference maker in Detroit and I think his career is trending downwards.

100% no. Lol
That’s why I proposed to wait for a replacement in free agency (most likely Drummond)
Lack of paint defense could help the tank

I respect it. I was just thinking in the grand scheme of things, a lineup of:

Immanuel Quickley (or our 1st rd pick this year)
Zach LaVine
RJ Barrett (improved)
Julius Randle - Obi Toppin
Andre Drummond

Could be something to build on.

That rhetorical question was my answer to whether Drummond would be a satisfactory replacement for Mitch

We want people to recognize we have something really special and nba elite in Mitch/Randle- last year they led the league in off rebounds
This year Randle shows he can play winning basketball at an all star level and Mitch has demonstrated he can lead a top nba defense under Thibs. Unless they fall off a cliff or you just don’t believe in them any thing we trade them for should have an equal basketball impact or it wont be worth it

I think pot land should be the #1 trade target. They could use RandLe as they are under performing and he fill's a need . They have a lot of tradable contracts (after march 3rd) and their first rounder should be decent.

This is going to be a brutal one, but what if.

Knicks trade:
- RJ Barrett
- Obi Toppin
- Nerlen Noels
- Frank Ntilikina
- Efrid Payton
- 2021 Dallas FRP
- 2022 NY FRP (lottery protected)

Washington trades:
- Bradley Beal
- Filler

Knicks:

C: Mitch Robinson / Taj Gibson
PF: Julius Randle / Kevin Knox
SF: Reggie Bullock / Alex Burks
SG: Bradley Beal
PG: Immanuel Quickley / Austin Rivers

That team probably still ends up in the lottery and a chance to pick up a top draft pick, but the trick is that we would have about $29mm in cap space, even considering Beal's trade kicker.

I am not sure either team dues this. NY likes RJ. Although he is currently a (far) inferior player to Beal, he is cheaper and has huge upside. I don't know if they do RJ, Obi and 2 1sts, although I would understand if they did. From Washington's perspective you are looking at the 3 1st rounders, decent young placer (Lavert) and allowance to swap picks Harden just netted and saying 'this isn't enough.'

Honestly Langford and Nesmith are buried so far down the Celtics depth chart they are both throw in status. I could seem them refusing to add the first but Langford and Nesmith for Bagley is a good trade for them.

If the Knicks move on from Randle to go younger, The Kings 1st, Nesmith and Langford aren’t shabby. Mostly based on the hope one or both those young guys can help us with our outside shooting
