i like it. kev has been playing well. not only is he taking and making good shots, but he's hustling on defense and on the glass. i'd love to see him rewarded with a start.

We should shift our focus and develop Knox instead. He can actually shoot

My ideal lineup when obi back

Iq
Rj
Knox
Obi
Mitch

Idc how many games they lose or how sloppy they look at times. Let them grow together

his development should definitely be part of the plan. it's a marvel he's stuck in the rotation. telling about how far he's come already. his role as backup forward has been consistent, but i'd love to see his minutes stabilize too.

I’ve been saying to start that lineup since the season began!
I don’t care how many losses we get with that starting lineup either. This would help develop our rookies and young players and show them how to play together and play under pressure.
Unfortunately Thibs will continue to start Randle and Bullock and Elfrid who should be waived. He sucks so much. When you see him dribble the ball up the court his body language is horrible and he looks like he doesn’t even want to play ball.

Great article looking at Randle at C. Offense and spacing is much better but of course we sacrifice on defense especially rim protection. Not something we should do full time, but we need to run those small ball lineups for stretches especially with RJ on the floor to get him going.

It does show some glimpeses of how much better RJ can do with better spacing though.

The bigger question is if long term this can be a viable solution if we expect to contend. It is hard to see how that can be yes. Sooner rather then later are going to have to make some decisions between players and move pieces around.

Some more good snippets

The player who gains the most from that extra room? You probably guessed it: RJ Barrett. On the season, Barrett has a ghastly True Shooting Percentage of 43.3%. Of the 97 players to take at least 100 shot attempts this season, Barrett ranks 95th in TS%. However, when Randle is at the five, Barrett’s TS% skyrockets to 75% per NBA Wowy, including an astonishing 81.3% on two-pointers (sample: 109 possessions).

Am I confident that RJ Barrett will continue to be the second coming of Wilt Chamberlain in RAC lineups? Unlikely. I’m sure there is some small sample noise in these numbers, but it’s hard to ignore how much more comfortable RJ looks with a little bit of breathing room out there

Conclusion
RAC lineups are a positively crucial part of this Knicks team’s identity. Yes, their deployment should depend on the situation (opponent, Randle’s fatigue, Mitch’s foul count, flow of the game, etc.), but they are far too valuable in unlocking Barrett and other perimeter players to ignore or minimize. Perhaps the biggest variable here is Obi Toppin’s health and development. If he can come in and be a stretch four next to Randle, it will give RAC lineups much-needed size and athleticism without sacrificing the shooting or playmaking. There’s a world where Randle spends upwards of 20% of his minutes playing the five next to power forwards like Toppin and Kevin Knox. In that world, there is space for players to move and there is space for fans to breathe.

So the team has no spacing as usual. It’s crazy how the FO saw our spacing problems last year and then they doubled down and we came in with even WORSE spacing

YES! He should play for at least 20 minutes to get his feet wet. Obi is our power forward of the future.

If kd cooks us on a back to back with that injury we should lose all hope in this team
