Outside of Randle, the bright spots of last night was Knox, Quickley and Mitch. Hopefully they can keep it up.

I’d also like to see Knox start.

My quick, concise thoughts on this team and game (sorry BAF fam only been able to pop in and out of the forum. COVID effing my schedule up. Be back soon..)

The low hanging fruit with this team is moving Elf to the bench unit where he can cook and not allow teams to play zone. It seems as though Thibs doesnt trust IQ fully yet (which makes sense IMO. He's really had more bad games than good games). And I don't think he views Rivers as a pure point. With no Frank and DSJ seemingly in the dog house it makes some logical sense that Elf is still starting. With that being said after 4 games where we weren't in the game for the majority of it, I think something has to give...

I'm going to give Thibs a pass for now with the rotations. WIth the amount of injuries to shooters and key role players his hands are tied. I can't blame him for playing Elf as much as he has or sticking with guys even on bad nights when his replacement option are what they are at the moment. And I don't think the team is quitting or anything like that. Most of our shot makers are just hurt and it's hard to generate offense when 4 of your better shooters are hurt.

Nice to see RJ get going even if the game was somewhat out of reach. Even though he doesn't outwardly show it, he is such a confidence fueled player. It seems like if he makes just 1 outside shot, it seems to get him going offensively and more patient. He seems to press when his shot isn't falling. He's 20 i'm not that concerned. He's shown enough in his good games that I'm fairly confident he's going to be a guy. Whether he is "the guy" remains to be seen but that gets me to my next point...

Randle is "the guy" for now... Accept it or not, this guy is here to stay and I am more than happy with it. There was a period in the first half where he was going back and forth with KD and I felt for a while that we might have a chance even if the majority of the team is off because this guy could just keep us in it. He has his bad moments, but for the most part he has been decisive and confident with everything he does unlike last year. Even with his dip in outside shooting which was expected and most of the shooters on the team out he has kept his all-star level production up and has been noticeably better on the defensive end. 30/6/5 again. Stud like production within the flow of the team. Makes throwing a max or close to it at Oladipo maybe make a little more sense than it did a few months ago :dontknow:

Knox has seemingly found his best role. Shoot open 3s and let that fuel the rest of his game. He still doesn't provide much outside of shooting/scoring but if he is going to continue to shoot near or at 40% from 3 then you can live with it. He's also made more strides defensively. He'll never be great but as long as he's passable it opens up more minutes for him IMO.

Quick getting more willing to shoot is a welcome sight. He needs to be a gunner on this team. I'd like him to tone down the floaters a bit, but he's a rookie so I understand if he is going to continuously do what he's most comfortable with.

Mitch is still a stud defensively. Can get overpowered but for the most part Thibs has maximized him defensively. One thing i've noticed from a scheme standpoint is that our wing defenders seem to collapse unnecessarily which is leaking some 3's. There are times where Mitch clearly has it covered around the rim, but guys are still digging off the corners and elbows. I think Thibs needs to tone that down a bit. Mitch has a lot more covered than I think this team even realizes.

Noel might be a worse rebounder than Porzingis

I like the idea of starting Rivers. He is a better scorer than Bullock. The Knicks really need Burks back in the rotation.

Knicks' talent is just too weak to compete this season fans. :nonono:

However, don't worry Knicks fans, I have a feeling a NBA championship might be coming to "NYC" soon. :D 8-)

FOH.. no one cares about that team

Hey, why do you have to assume I'm talking about the Nets? It could be a future Knicks team.

My family and I have moved from Manhattan to Brooklyn(New Manhattan) and I like living in Brooklyn and working in Manhattan. We are saving a ton of money. I've adapted the Nets as my second NYC basketball team, so I have not problem cheering for both Knicks (my first team) and the Nets (my second team). However, when both teams are playing each other, I have to cheer for the Knicks. I have no reason to show jealousy or hate towards the Nets just because my Knicks sucks. I have to respect the moves the Nets made to win now. I prefer to watch the Nets win instead of the Lakers. Go Knicks and Nets = NYC WIN. 8-)

Quickley finally hit some shots, we desperately need him to be decent.

Knox is currently our most consistent top 10 pick. Good for him yikes for the others.

We cant rely on Rivers to save us cause he's not that good.

Randle was going toe to toe with KD and put up 30-7-5. May as well send him to fans that would appreciate him while we crave to build around busts.

Imagine having a young player that had great games against Giannis, Ben Simmons, Sabonis, Jokic and KD yet they wanna trade you for horrible picks to build around R_Barrett and Frank. this is why we don’t deserve nice things

Do you ignore the things that Randle does to hurt the team or are they included in your assessment of him? I'll give an example. If Mitch goes to help on a defender and does not get the block or force a miss, the other team eithers get an open shot or an offensive rebound. It is very rare to see Randle clean up the defensive boards in that scenario or make a solid rotation. I'm encouraged by what Randle is showing on the offensive end, but in team defense he's very Kanteresque. Man to man defense he's solid, but teams screen so much that man defense is not necessarily the most important aspect these days.

Like I said, good game. Y’all got nice young players with a future. Nobody doing anything passive aggressive, give me a break. When I had something negative to say, I’ve said it with my chest. we are a contender and you are rebuilding, true Nets fans don’t care about no petty city beef we got other things to worry about like half our damn dream being traded.

No worries man, some of us are just getting thrown off because you aren't claiming that our kids are all guaranteed busts since they failed to make the allstar game before their 20th birthday...like we've decided that they all are

No, it's that we realize the youth isn't any good and also don't want to hear from corny ass Nets fans, ever

Like I said, this fanbase lacks the patience for a rebuild

I’ve seen Randle make a lot of good rotations on defense. I mean by all metrics, he’s been good on defense. Randle is only bad when he’s at the 5 and has to protect the rim. That’s just not his strength.

It seems like you’re ignoring that the Knicks are complete ass without him. We have the lowest eFG% in the league when he’s off the floor.

Well, dayum!

Dude, evaluations will be made 15-20 games in, so you should hold off at least until then before going off the deep end

you know RJ is mad streaky but his bounce back game is consistently stellar, the first two years most rookies are inconsistent, it’s a common theme

All right so you don’t like RJ. But we don’t know he is bad yet, or that good.

If he turns out to be bad, oh well.

This is not the first drafting team to draft a ton of guys who don’t move the needle. Did we miss the Clippers from 1990-2005? Or what about the Bobcats?

The Knicks are not entitled to good luck. The Nets have drafted like 3 good players in their entire history lol.

R-Jeff. Dr. J? That’s about it. The Pels are stacked and you know what they kind of suck.

I think RJ has the chops. There are literally dozens of nothing much players for every Luka or Donovan.

we needed him to be more than just another guy and it's most likely heading that way. i don't think obi is that either so we're back at square one.

there are. and luck is a big factor. but good teams still seem to find those guys more often than we do.

None of our kids are franchise players, but if you were betting on that, the odds of that are pretty low anyway

RJ figures to be like a Dermarr Derozan level star and Obi maybe has a Blake/Amare type career...

It’ll take time for them to get to that level tho

Mitch is the only kid we have who has shown starter level play let alone star level play. On a good team...none of our kids would be starting except Mitch.

If y’all notice I don’t think the Knicks have had two days off since Christmas... and they way Thibs supposedly works them, their tanks are getting empty pretty quick...

I notice it more on the defensive end, we’re not as sharp as we were 2 weeks ago

Maybe RJ can break the curse. Our past two lottery picks had us having high hopes going into there second seasons. Frank fell on off quickly. Knox started off looking solid then fell off a cliff and never recovered. At least it seems like RJ is fighting lol.

He'll always be a dummy, but he's starting to look like he's going to carve out an NBA career for himself as a rotational guy. His defensive improvement has been a pleasant surprise, as long as he's hitting his 3s he serves a purpose out there, and he's even made some good passes. It's getting to the point where I no longer just assume it's going to be a turnover whenever I see him dribbling.
