Depending on the price, I think anyone would take Rose over Payton in .0001 second.

He still can't shoot so I don't know how much he'd help our starting lineup with spacing at all if he was traded and in place of Payton though.

Can they trade the Mavericks pick? This board would nuke itself.

If Payton isn’t part of the deal, hard pass. Other than a straight swap of the two, not sure what I’d give up for Rose. Certainly not much.

I'm guessing they would do this with the thought of either cutting Payton or making him a part of the deal. Rose would probably still come off the bench and they would promote IQ to starter to keep some perimeter scoring in the bench unit. Would make some sense in a vacuum. I'd rather chase Lonzo personally. Pelicans have wasted him amongst the other young guys that they seem to not be able to maximize.

He's a decent upgrade over Elf. Elf has a no trade clause, however, though I'd guess he'd waive it because he'd get PT over there.

In his year in New York, his raw numbers looked okay (18ppg on 47 FG%) but watching him play game in and game out I can't recall a player who was as maddening to watch, and probably to play with, not even Elfrid, who I only sports-hate (Rose, I actually hate). Halfway decent boxscore stats disguised a toxic effect on team play, offensively and defensively. He was a no-D playing, selfish bucket hunter who didn't see or space the floor, didn't create opportunities for anyone other than himself, didn't deliver the ball to open teammates, was contact shy, and didn't do much of anything except dribble into contested midrange pullups and floaters (which he is actually good at, but not good enough to ONLY contribute that).

I won't even mention his no-call no show for a GAME.

Then there's this:

Question: “Do you have an understanding as to the word consent?”

Rose: “No but can you tell me?”

Question: “I just wanted to know if you had any understanding.”

Rose: “No.”

Macri didn’t nail schit. He back pedaled and made it seem like the Knicks were gonna hire Kenny Atkinson right before we made the Thibs hire official.
