All jokes aside, I know KP would rather jump off a bridge than come back.

Porzingis for Wiggins works under the cap. I would guess that was the proposal.

KP's health situation makes getting anything decent back unlikely. I don't see the W's trading Wiggins for KP.

I wonder if KP and Randle would be a good pair?

I would easily take what we got over Josh 'Scottie Pippen 2.0 in the triangle I am going to force on everyone' Jackson in hindsight.

Pretty interesting that alot of the posters who trashed the return on the KP deal also thought our newest all star was absolute trash. Hmm that board IQ.

With the way the Knicks luck has been it would not surprise me if KP pulled an AD and remained healthy enough for an entire season and won a title.

Did you make these calls at the time, i.e. that (1) Randle would be a dominating All-Star this season; and (2) we would end up getting the better of the KP trade?

If you're going to insult the collective IQ on this forum like that, then you'll need to pull your quotes up from at the time. That's only fair.

I may be old but my memory is still pretty sharp.

Phil took a beating when it came out that he was poking around to see what we could get back. What pissed me off about that is that this criticism of Phil got dove-tailed into the hate he got from SAS (and Lebron and everyone else who piled on) for his handling of Melo (Phil got that right too as evidenced by Melo's improved play since he got to Portland), and the media used that to basically run Phil out of town. But, whatever, Phil made out real well. I just can't wait for his next book to come out. :D

Maybe it's different with me because I watched Phil play and contribute to the best basketball I ever got to watch back from the time with trade for Debusschere to time we traded Clyde. I think a lot of other Knicks' fans knew him more from his days coaching the Bulls and the Lakers and, let's face it, the media here - and pretty much everywhere except Chicago - hated his guts.

people based their opinion of Randle on what he showed us. He played like trash last season, no doubt about it. He basically admitted it himself. Huge props to Randle for staying in the lab and improving his craft. He has improved beyond all expectations

I think Knicks got all they could have gotten for a disgruntled brat who was still injured. 2 picks, dumped salary. I just wish they were a little smarter and kept Noah so they could have sneaked him in that trade as well.

Knicks screwed up not selling KP at peak value like Phil Jackson wanted to. Phil wanted to trade him when the whole league loved him and genuinely thought he was a unicorn. Knicks instead traded him when he was injured, and when he and his brother made their frustrations known. Not very wise. Basically sold KP at his lowest value as he was due for a max contract as well.

Phil coached the biggest stars and egos in the game. He knows what makes winner vs a brat. Melo and KP were both self defeating stars. Phil was expecting them to play harder to prove him wrong, like any true winner would have done. But they cried instead.

They never had the makings of a varsity athlete.

It would also help for that poster to know that the Knicks already had the cap space to sign Randle outright. :dontknow:

The Noah stretch was one of the most mystifying moves I've seen the Knicks make and that's saying something. Signing him wasn't great either!

He said "Hey Phil, look at this, I've still got it!" as he did finger pull-ups and got $80M for his efforts. What Phil didn't realize is those were Noah's Patron tequila shot-taking fingers and not his basketball fingers which had already retired.
