oh boy...if they have the $$$ this doesn't look good.

But at the same time I'm happy for the guy...deserves a HC job.

And would KP demand that much? The guy's wanted his own program for years. Here's a chance to work in one of the best conferences in the country for a guy he knows and respects. Is he really going to hold out for every last dollar? I'm not so sure.

He did with us, when it came to leaving KY

I don't begrudge him either way. Just thinking through the logistics of it all.

I don't think he takes the job. He finally has an NBA gig and earning a strong reputation in the league. If he sticks it out a couple of years here he might be in line for an NBA HC job vs going back to college, failing and starting over.

That certainly could be a reason and if that is the path he wants to take then that is great for him.

eventually good to great assistants will get snagged. It's a part of the game. If our team and Thibs/FO are legit, there should and will be no drop off once teams snag our assistants.

Its hard to get a HC offer.

Depaul hasnt won in ages, its close to a dead end job as there is in NCAAM basketball.

As great as he is recruiting and fostering relationships. You got Juwan Howard taking kids up north to Michigan for the foreseeable future & Illinois is now a top 25 team.

Dolan needs to cut the check and maybe someone in KPs inner circle can tell him there are better jobs in his future.

I don't think it's a money issue for Payne. I think the Knicks can't give him the one thing he wants most - the first seat on the bench.

And I also think that KP's inner circle should want him to take the DePaul job. He's 54 years old, and he spent the better part of a decade as one of the top assistants in the college game without getting any job offers. There's no guarantee that better offers will come. It's probably very close to "now or never" time for him to become a head coach.

The way Thibs spoke yesterday I think odds are pretty good both KP and Woody will be moving on to opportunities they view as best for them and their respective careers.

DEPAUL: New DePaul AD DeWayne Peevy came over from Kentucky and sources say he has zeroed in on former Kentucky assistant and current Knicks assistant Kenny Payne to replace Dave Leitao, who was fired earlier this month. One source said it was Payne’s job to lose “unless things change, unless Porter [Moser] really, really wants this job which I don’t think he does.” Cleveland State coach and Chicago native Dennis Gates has also been mentioned.
