This is false. We can still finish 7th which is play-in not playoffs, and be eliminated from the play-in.
damn never mind then. not sure why they would tweet that. they got me.

Yeah. We lock in 6 seed in two scenarios:
1) We win 2 of our last 4 games
2) We win 1 of our last 4 games AND Boston loses 1 more game out of their last 4.
Our last game against Boston can be monumental. I hope we win two of our next 3 (LAL, SAS, CHA) instead of it coming down to the last one (BOS).
Yeah, I mean we need a fairly monumental collapse to end up 7. I get that we don't want to jinx it, but the way Thibs has these guys locked in, seems far more likely we're still in a dogfight with Atlanta for homecourt.
Personally, I think it's a coin flip as to which scenario is best for the Knicks -- 1st round series win vs. Atlanta or 1st round series ALMOST win vs. the Nets. Either scenario would be epically huge for the franchise.
I edited my response to add, we can also play against Miami in 1st round as 4 vs 5. (missing from your scenarios)

I'm rooting for Atlanta. Especially coming off 4 cupcake games to finish the season, they'll be soft.

I really don’t understand this magic number stuff.
Right now there’s a 98% chance of making at least the 6 seed. We’d literally have to lose 5 in a row to miss the playoffs.
The only real question (no jinx) is whether we finish 4th, 5th, or 6th.

Anyone know how the tiebreakers fare?

The division winner gets the tiebreaker in a 3-way tie

Ummmm ok?
Which one has the tie-break?
