How high up in the draft would both FRPs get us?

Post#1 » by KnixinSix » Sat Jun 5, 2021 11:52 pm

Just trying to figure out in this draft if we packaged both our top first round picks , how high could we realistically get to in the 1st round?

For reference, in 2017, Portland traded 15 and 20 for 10

We have 19 and 21. So like, maybe 12 or 13 if we get lucky.

Klay Thompson/Shaedon Sharpe
Keldon Johnson/De'Andre Hunter
Evan Mobley/Tari Eason
Nic Claxton/Draymond Green

I was gonna say 12-14 maybe

But the more important question is..... why? Who do you want in that range so bad that’s worth two picks

I woudnt mind consolidating 2 lower picks to get 1 higher pick. No point having too many young guys on a franchise that coudnt develop for ****

To be in range for James Bouknight and/or Josh Giddey.

How about 19, 21, and 32?

The interesting question is what Obi's value is. Does he still have the value of the 8th pick? If we include him, how high can we go? Can we get our potential franchise player?

while I agree with your sentiment regarding development, I'd rather have 2 chances at landing an impact player over 1. if the knicks are gonna package to move up in the draft, they might as well do everything possible to trade for the first pick.

I like giddey, but don't think he is worth trading up for imo. would rather just take our two swings at 19 and 21. giddey is intriguing but he isn't nearly a sure thing imo

damn, that's actually pretty interesting and useful. I'd be curious to know the value of future picks within this context.

I read the Knicks are most likely packaging all our picks and moving up cause Thibs doesn’t want a lot of youngins on the roster.

Not sure how I feel about that, we seem to hit better later in the draft than earlier.

This is not football. It all depends on what GMs want at a given draft. I personally think it is better to get multiple players unless you can go all the way up to players with all NBA potential.

19 and 21 to move down JUST 2 spots?

No it will likely be better than that.

15 at minumum I would say. Keep in mind a team making the trade will have 2 guys they think will be pretty good in that range. Max i am not sure but probably no better than 12 some have suggested.

In 2010, OKC got the 11th pick for the 21st n 26th.

Guess it depends on the draft, the talent available, and the team making the trade.
