How good can Miles McBride be?

Post#1 » by RandlesCornrows » Wed Dec 15, 2021 5:17 pm

Thibs has to give this kid serious burn in the rotation. I may even get to the point of starting, since we have Alec Burks at that spot, which isn’t his position. He’s essentially a “Thibs Guy”, brings energy, plays defense, is a dog.

But man his skillset is special. His first step is great, he can score all over the court with hands on his face, move the ball, handle the rock at an elite level and shoot off the dribble in traffic which we saw last night. He can play off the ball, and he a menace defensively.

What he did in the GLeague treating it like a joke in a small sample size shouldn’t be over looked because he shows he has the skills of a potential all star point guard since it doesnt matter whose infront of him. Obviously the NBA adjustment is different but what he did against professional players during a cup of coffee down their is special.

Thibs has to give the point guard minutes, since we’ll, we don’t have an actual starting pg.

I would say Patrick Beverly. But if he really developed his game (ala Jimmy Butler) then he could become Kyle Lowry lite

Defensively sure? Marcus Smart doesn’t have the offensive tools McBride has. Kid is a prospect and should be considered a legitimate prospect that can be special. His floor should be Marcus Smart but I don’t see Smart handle the rock and shoot like McBride can. Lets hope he gets the looks and touch at the NBA level cause he has serious tools.

I think we all want to know how good he can be. I still have concerns about how we develop players but would love to see him, Grimes, Knox, and Sims get more burn time. As fans, we can accept the losing better if we knew the club was developing our young talent. The Knicks have been point guard starved for decades, there is no excuse not to put him out there and see what we have.

I mean, clearing Marcus Smart level on offense isn't hard. He has potential to do so, but not yet, and we're not really known for getting guys to their potential

I don't see "special" with McBride, but I can see him being very good

He's very raw on offense, but has the foundation to be a good defender. I actually think we'll be better off development wise letting him ball out in the G League, develop those offensive skills for a year

I think bootleg Smart is a realistic expectation, with his potential ceiling being higher.

I’m not participating in this massive overreaching of any decent prospect we have.. I’m just gonna hope they get enough time to show us what they can do

Genuine glue piece with high level defense and solid scoring for two-way contributions. But these workhorse types can surprise you with growth. He smoked summer league and G-league, so hopefully he can build up and be more than a key role player...the undersized thing is what gives me pause...fingers crossed he's Fred Vanvleet 2.0

I already went on record saying Thibs should be fired for pulling him after he was so productive against GS. That pull back 3 was gorgeous, literally didnt stop mlving on defense the entire time he was out there and then what does Thibs do? He pulls him for Fournier or Burks or whoever it was

I loved McBride in the draft and very happy we got him. Think for now you hope he can be a solid rotation piece and then take it from there.

I hate when we overhype young players then get mad when they don't meet those expectations. Happens with pretty much every young player

he doesn’t seem to have an explosive first step to get by people and all his moves are methodical, too stiff — that isn’t a bad thing tho, just he’s not fluid

he looks like an elite defensive player tho, he should be in the rotation for sure
LOL Y U MAD THO?

Yep like you are hinting at, he looks like a smaller D-Wade.

One thing I noticed is that Deuce uses a little too much time setting up his move. A little too much dribbling while others are standing around. Not a huge deal. In fact, he seemed to improve on that towards the end of the game. I recall IQ getting impatient with him on one possession and motion for him to move the ball.

I'd love to see IQ at the 2 and Deuce at the 1...idk if that would work height wise but it would be a good fit

Deuce/Rose
IQ
Grimes
Obi
Mitch

That would be a fun lineup to watch.. Add Simmons and games would be fun again

That's up to him! If he puts in the work and stays relatively injury-free...if not...
