not sure Nurkic or Wood get us where we need to go and Thibs values rim protection with his bigs.

Yeah I’m just fine keeping Mitch if that’s the price for Turner. And I just watched Wood get abused by Marvin Bagley the other night…

I’d maybe consider it with the Mavs pick, it won’t be very good and then it depends on the player

so you are thinking something like Obi + DAL pick + salary filler.

My only issue with that is then you have absolutely no ammo to trade for a star. All our extra assets are gone. We only have our 1st round picks to deal for a "star".

I’d probably try to make them eat the Fournier contract and try to send Fournier Mitch and DAL pick for Turner and Duane Washington Jr. but that’s probably just wishful thinking. Alternatively we could do your deal and Noel as filler but I’d rather do the above deal and keep Toppin if possible. I don’t feel very strongly about it either way just throwing ideas out there

Edit: I don’t see the pacers wanting Noel. Carlisle hates him. And if we send Toppin I would rather haggle to send them a second rounder instead of a 1st

I fear Thibs is demanding a shot-blocker specialist too.

But Nurkic averaged 1.4 blocks a couple of seasons ago before he had his leg broken. I don't know if his blocks number dropped because he lost athleticism or due strategy/line-ups changes.

I think Portland has the worst defensive rating in the NBA. Not sure I want to poach anyone away from them who is manning there interior defense.

We do not know the price for Mitch and we can not be sure he will be back next year. He is UFA. He can sign with any team and we will get nothing in return. He probably can get MLE money from a contender or a really good deal from a cap space team like Detroit/Spurs.

Nurk gets hurt way too much. Also not that athletic imo. Can’t blame him for Portland’s d. Like Billups has acknowledged, can’t do much about it when you got 3 short guys in the backcourt.

Bamba is another option if our Front Office values more potential than experience.

I’ve been trying to tell people this and personally I think he’s gone anyway and I don’t think he likes Thibs. So we’ll likely lose him for nothing if they don’t trade him in the next few weeks

so Jalen Brunson for Mitch

and Obi/Noel/Dal Pick for Myles Turner

is that what I'm gathering from these talking points?

I think just Mitch is too little for Dallas... Besides, Dallas needs a promise from Mitch that he will extend for a reasonable contract or take the risk.

I mean technically they are in the exact same position with Brunson...he can leave and they have no control over it.

Would people be more interested in Bamba than Turner? There's pros and cons with him but he's probably easier to get for less.

Indiana needs rehab if that's their asking price.

Yes. But they want to trade Brunson to avoid this situation. Besides Brunson: a) is more valuable than Mitch (more consistent, durable and he is a PG, not a rin runner Center); b) he is worth a 15M+/y contract, which makes his bird's rights more valuable. You do not have to overpay him to avoid him taking the MLE from another team. I dont think he would refuse a 64/4 contract to take a MLE from another team and I dont know if any team would have the cap space to offer him a better contract.

Turner may be the worst of the three imo. I’d love to get him though and I’d also send a player and a pick.

We’re already below average at every position, why add Brunson? We need a top tier PG or that treadmill spins eternally.
