it is interesting what having an adult in the room like Buck can do.
No more imaginary hitting coach, no more infighting with the players.
They did go out and get some really complimentary pieces. Marte/Escobar/Canha have all contributed in some ways and give you good at bats. Less strikeouts in and they lead the majors in 2 out hitting. Which is so refreshing.
Lindor is shaking off his 1st year like Beltran did.
And they are getting great pitching. Scherzer is amazing and Megill has been such a pleasant surprise. Bassitt was a great pickup and Carrasco looks back to his old form.
Getting Degrom back in the summer will be like the greatest trade acquisition of all time.
Now the only thing hanging over the team is the Cano decision. In less than a week rosters go from 28 to 26...They are going to have to make some tough calls as one position player has to go. It should be Cano (but that contract his kinda in the way) hopefully Cohen flashes his money here and makes the right baseball decision.

As a Yankee fan with tons of Mets fan friends in my circle growing up, I'm saddened that I can no longer bust their balls about the Amazins not having ever thrown a legit no-hitter.

Was there an issue with Santana's no-hitter? I forget. I was actually out to dinner with family that night and got back to watch the 9th inning.

I didn't remember this and had to look it up. It vaguely rings a bell.

Mike Baxter also crashed into a wall, hurting his shoulder and perhaps ending his career to make a catch on a tough play. He was a fringe MLBer anyway, so not clear, but he took one for the team that day.
And Johan had 5 walks and threw 134 pitches, which may have hurt him down the line, though that's also not clear.
His no-no was June 1, then on 7 days rest he had a bad game on June 8
His next 4 starts were fine - 25 innings, 2.16 ERA, 3.33 FIP
Then he blew up: 5 starts through July & August: 19 innings, 43 hits, 15.63 ERA, 7.62 FIP. Was that the fault of the no hitter and 134 pitches or would his arm have quit on him anyway - I don't think anyone knows.
Still, even with the arguably friendly ump call, I'm calling it a no hitter. But, I totally get why managers are pulling pitchers with no hitters before the 9th inning, cause it's a long season. The pitches health and lasting the season matters more than the no-no.
