Did anyone with baseball knowledge think that Montas was going to give the Yankees anything of value had he been healthy? Nah, not even that. I get not wanting to trade all the prospects. The worst is the refusal to spend money in FA, especially for top stars that don’t have a pick penalty. Then all of a sudden, you’re at the trade deadline and oh shyt, everyone’s trying to gouge you and there’s not even enough good players on the block.

Montas was a bad trade but Castillo would cost at least 2 of our best prospects plus +120 million contract. If they did trade for castillo, im not sure if they would still have gone after Rondon. And im not sure how Castillo would have helped against the Astros. The team scored 9 runs over 4 games.
