If he ever gets on the court, Walt is going to have a field day.

"Keeling them softly with the three ball."

"wheeling and Keeling"

Walt loves the pick.

Guess I wasn’t the only one who laughed out loud when Perk compared Keels to Desmond effing Bane.

Keels, who shot 31% from three on 5 attempts a game in college (and 60 something % from the line), compared to Bane, who is one of the best shooters in the NBA.

I haven't seen anything pop up on it, but Keels and IQ have to know each other, right? Both big time D1 ballers from the Maryland/DMV area...

I think Keels can be a great glue guy off the bench down the line. Won't wow you in any one area but will make winning plays. Marcus Smart is his max ceiling which is doubtful but he might be able to get to Derek Fisher level.

there's a pretty clear difference in keels and marcus smart though. smart was lauded as a good tough defender out of college that eventually became the dpoy. the report on this guy is that he looks like a traffic cone who can only maybe hope to be competent on defense.

aside from that large difference in defense, they both can't shoot or score efficiently. so along with body type there's some similarities there, but if marcus smart wasn't playing defense he probably wouldn't be in the league so there's that

Yes right now Keels is nowhere near the lockdown defender Smart is but he does have good instincts on that end. On the offensive end is where they are more comparable. Like Smart he can be a downhill pick and roll sudo PG who can attack the basket and kick out. His shot is not as bad as his numbers looked last season either.

good defensive instincts gets you into.. the passing lanes? he's still just a fat traffic cone with no lateral quickness that got blown by regularly in college. also not sure how your shot can be not as bad as the numbers look. considering the college 3 is even shorter than the nba 3 his shot might be dare i say even worse than it was..? don't get your hopes up. a marcus smart offensive type that doesn't play defense is unplayable in this league

You are right. He should not be guarding any PGs in the NBA but as a gritty wing defender he can get in the lanes and into the ball handlers pocket. In the same vein as Smart being a terrible shooter coming into the league, Keels can improve in that area too. The shot isn't broken but just needs consistency.

Keels, from what I have heard, the comp that comes to mind is Corey Maggette. "Bad Porn" with the physicality and some range abilities.

The problem is there are rarely kids who come in with weight issues who actually shake them

It was probably my favorite part of the draft. When he dropped Michael Beasley on Banchero right out of the gate, I knew we were in for a fun night, lol.

I think cause both guys are built like mini fridges and have t-rex arms.
