So many threads going around talking FA. Would be nice to keep it all in one place. I’ll start with the latest from Stein:

It won't be a frenzy

We'll get Brunson and re-sign Taj

Maybe another vet or two to jam up the rotation some more.

If Leon Rose is really gonna empty the clip with a ton of 1sts I feel like Murray is a smokescreen.

There is only one player that Rose is going to go for broke on and that’s Booker.

He’s most likely banking on Pheonix imploding. With CP3 age and contract and Ayton potentially being shopped I would imagine that Booker eventually asks out.

Of course I can be totally wrong.

I've soured on that soft herb Booker.

Hayward in his prime would be a great get. Problem is he hasn't looked anything close to what he was like in his prime. Last season it looked like he was carrying at least 15 to 20 extra pounds and it really limited his ability to move. It's not the injury, it's the possibility that he's literally living fat on his contract and really not interested in returning to the type of dynamic all around player he was. Last time the Knicks got those types it was Penny Hardaway followed shortly after (or was that before) by Steve Francis. Total wastes.

I think NYK will try for a Randle for Miles Bridges S&T... we toss in some sweeteners...

This literally will not happen and makes no sense for either team

If I were the Knicks and chose to do down this route, absolutely Brunson would only be the starter and I'd be looking to move multiple young players I have (not RJ of course) along with picks for a uptick in impact talent that I can pair with Brunson, RJ, Mitch and Randle (yes, I know). If it's not Murray then it's someone else at that level and if it means trading among Obi, IQ, Grimes, Reddish and the picks they've amassed across the next several years then so be it. Then I look to use that upper MLE on another potential impact guy that can fit the timeline of more starting 5 and go at it.

I'd rather move Randle, Rose, and picks so IQ and Obi can get prime minutes along with whoever they bring in (Spida? Ayton? Lavine?)

Talk to me about a S&T with Sun's that makes sense.

Randle gotta go the other way, nah?

Randle (righted) fits better the timeline of Brunson and RJ than IQ and Obi. If the plan is to add these guys so that you can get more of the MIP Randle back then trading (basically dumping) Randle now doesn't make sense. If you are going to focus on the young guys then signing Brunson doesn't make sense cause Brunson is already pass that time frame. RJ fits because he's advanced and already shown he can make a major impact. It's why I was dubious about signing Brunson to begin with. I actually wanted a traditional rebuild. But if you are going with Brunson then you are going with win sooner rather than later and a Randle that is fixed goes much farther to that endeavor than maybe seeing if Obi can start or if IQ can be anything more than a 6th or 7th man. Now if you can find someone to take Randle and give the Knicks back a similar level talent then sure that works. But Randle in his current state won't get that. If by adding Brunson and someone else that has more talent than most everyone else on this can make Randle's job easier so that he returns to more of the dominant player he was in 2020-2021 then that is the time to look to move him if you don't feel the fit is right. The Knicks have nothing to lose. They aren't winning a title or even going deep in the playoffs this upcoming season for them to have to dump Randle now. Their best shot is for Randle with (a lot more) help returning to the type of player he was at his peak for the Knicks.

Teams with a mix of young vets and 3rd and 4th year players can become good in short order. If the NYK talent evaluators see something in Obi and IQ (which I think they do...in IQ at least), then I could see them wanting to move on from Randle if the opportunity presents itself. If not, they can ask Obi to be patient and then trade Randle at the deadline. But I'm in on the going all in now with Brunson and co. (or at least by this upcoming trade deadline in Feb '23). Pounce!
