Realistically, what should he get for his next contract with the Knicks?

3 years 16m per year

I figure Hart and IQ will slot into some variation of the Rose/Fournier salary slots, adjusted for inflation/upcoming cap inflation.

Maybe the Knicks trade Sims to free up some extra $ they direct towards these two.

Or Obi goes to a team that can absorb him for a pick.

I probably cribbed the idea from Macri's Cohen, but pretty sure the Knicks have various salary slot levels they try to fill for cap management and possible trade flexibility, always with an eye not to go over the luxury tax apron. I know there were changes to the CBA and what teams can do with large payrolls, but not sure of the implications, other than it was said good teams with multiple supermax players can add another.

I guess Hart will get 72-4 contract. Something like Evan"s contract.

Resigning Hart should be the top priority this offseason. His impact is immeasurable.

Given his bromance with Brunson I think we have to.

Crazy how the Mavs let Brunson walk and then the Blazers shipped out Hart to us

After years of getting the short end of the stick it doesn't feel real when the basketball gods grant us Christmas presents twice in one year

Trading and acquiring players that fit, instead of just chasing names, is such an "of course" thing to do, but we just don't have a history of doing it. The surprising thing I suppose is that we actually had a core *to want* to fit parts around.

There’s no way POR can afford to keep Simons, Lillard and Hart.

Hoping we can dump Simons, not a fan.

What is the Portland core going into next year? Lillard, Grant and... Sharpe? I have some vested interest in seeing Portland do well.

We need to move the vets and rebuild but it’s more likely the FO will continue the pretend to contend.

Don't forget the Cavs were in talks for Hart they decided
to stand pat. They had no picks to trade anyway. They only have their 2024 1st. Couldn't trade it anyway with that back to back rule. Ainge really handicapped them. Only value to trade is Allen. Think Mitchell gonna leave in a few years. Ainge can f up your franchise. Looking at you Minnesota years down the line

I think in this NBA, Hart is going to get $20MM or a bit more, and really I wouldn't hesitate to pay it. I would love for that to be for three years but I would give him four years to keep him if we had to.

Too important. Hart, ability wise, can be a key contributor on a title winning team and couldn't possibly fit better in this system and around our core. Don't see how we can afford to lose him.

I dont think you pay a non-starter 20m/year.

conversely,

If someone is offering josh hart 20mm/year, he is starting and playing 36mpg.

I still think y'all haven't adjusted to the new NBA

70 players were paid at least 20 million this year

10 players played at least 36 mpg this year. Hell, drop it to 35 mpg, it's still only 24 guys

20 million is not the same as it used to be.
