Sure thing. Subtract an all star that puts up 25 PPG and 4 APG and see if the team gets better.
The Warriors got rid of 25.5ppg 5apg Monta Ellis and got better.
There are several instances in NBA history where a team removed a player with nice stats for someone with lesser ones and the team got better.
The warriors got better because they got Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.
They already had those guys when Monta was on the team, they got rid of 25ppg for less raw production and then improved because the defense got better and ball movement improved by light years.
Also, funny you mention Draymond, since he was coming off the bench for David Lee who was an all-star and averaging 20/10/3 for them. They replaced 20/10/3 with 11/8/6 and got better, which shouldn't be possible because the raw stats are all that matters, right?
I'm not for replacing Randle with Kristaps, too much of an injury risk, but just posting Randle's stats means absolutely nothing. Sometimes you can remove the raw production and improve because the defense & ball movement pick up, so addition by subtraction in the NBA is a real thing, as it's happened several times before.
