His ceiling is 4/100M, but that's banking on continued improvement.

His production definitely is worth $20M/yr in the new rising cap

He wants to start. And his starter numbers are big money worthy considering his age.

21 games
22.6 PPG 5.4 RPG 5.1 APG
47% 40% 85%

He flamed out big time in the playoffs but we can’t downplay how good of a year he had. I could see a few teams throwing big dollars at him if we let him look for an offer

more than $20 million a season

at that point he's getting paid as much as Jalen Brunson and RJ Barrett

Is he better than them? Don't know, maybe he could be?

Is he legitimately better than Quentin Grimes?

Would the Knicks be better if Quickley was starting at SG and Grimes was coming off the bench?

I have so many questions!

He's better than I think he is, but not as good as quite a few posters think. He has improved his body in a way I didn't anticipate.

Is he worth 15% of the salary cap? 18%? Those are about 60% and 75% of the second contract max. The cap is projected to be $134m. So 15%, resp. 18% of that is $20m, resp $24m.

So, yeah, he's probably worth 15% of the cap. Somewhere between there and 18%. So I'll vote 22.5m is too much ... although a little more might not be bad. I don't think you pay 25m

I mean, I'm of the view that the Mitch, Brunson and even Randle contracts were absurdly good value. (And the RJ deal was an abomination, but that's a different topic.)

Yep you basically got it right. We also got Rose and Fournier taking up a bunch of cap space last season and doing nothing, and we’ve also gotten to the point where Brunson is seen as one of the best deals in the league - he’d probably get maxed this off-season if he were available.

Jeremy Lin should be a lesson to anyone asking this question.

The cap numbers are different these days. He gets great 6 man money. Whatever that is these days. 22 games doesn't earn you a starting salary on my team. Especially when you sucked and got hurt when we needed you most. Rinse repeat

Meh. I generally love your comments but I don't see what JLin has to do with this.

However, we can solve: what is "great 6 man" money for you *in terms of a percentage of the salary cap*? Then we know.

Idk how you can have any leverage after the playoffs he had. Shouldnt overpay a bit.

I'm thinking about 4-75 to 4-80 for both Quick & Josh Hart. As long as they don't go too much over that, I'm fine with it.

18m per or less is just about right

If he can provide real pg play then 20m+ per

After what we've seen of Quick in the playoffs 18M is the max I'd like to see, if he wants more than 20 the team should let him earn it first during next season

Lin had a couple of good weeks and got that crazy contract from Houston. He was never that good after getting paid.

IQ has been as up and down as RJ. He filled in when we needed him for a short stretch. Then he disappeared.

Both players were injured and didn't help in the playoffs.

Let's see how well he plays next year before we worry about his salary.

What are the implications of giving IQ/Hart 40 million per with the new CBA?

I get Rose and Fournier are going away. After that, Obi and Grimes will be on deck for similar money?

Tyler Herro signed an extension for 4/$120M. That’s probably what Quickley’s agent is angling for. I’d be comfortable with 4/$90M.
