The budget got slightly extended too...but the move makes sense...

The amount of 3s he was out right passing up last season was crazy... to say he was unconfident and gun shy was an understatement. the entire team was at some point. nobody but Grimes or RJ wanted to shoot

we plan on operating as an above the cap team for the foreseeable future so the $$$ don't really matter. By not opting out he helped us bring in Donte.

I don't really like this move if this is the team we move forward with. We don't have enough talent.

However, if we do lose significant depth b/c we do address the talent issue (i.e. Joel Embiid, Doncic ), then any coach would like Donte and Hart as guard/forwards off the bench - even at this price point, especially considering the above post and rising cap.

Don't forget he opted in too. Definitely represents the NY spirit well.

NBA bench/role players now get nearly $100m contracts, and I’m not against it but it does make me feel old and confused.

That's a steal for someone of his caliber who puts in the work and really wants to be here.

Hart is the kind of dogg that makes a team not fun to play against.

This is the thing and we can‘t judge this by how it makes guys like Rhodey and us feel. NBA bench contracts are here in this range and with the NBA expanding $$$$ profit, it will be a great deal halfway through the contract.

Money is not what it once was.

I remember Jerome James signing for like 7 million a season, and it being disastrous. Now 20 mil per is in the shoulder-shrug range.

the knicks honoring hart giving the team cap space is a good look.

Really was a 5 year $94MM deal with him picking up his player option. This also secures Brunson signing an extension later on with Hart and DDV signed long term

This feels very on par with what his value is in the current NBA environment.

that's kinda on the high end for him. there's no way iq is taking less than this.
