Thr latest big news is this...Pistons despite their absolutely abominal record are still trying to improve the team right now and are potentially buyers. With that direction if any team made sense to take on LaVine its probably them.

If they get out of that contract
This probably means they don't trade guys like White , Williams and Caruso at least not for salary cap purposes.

I'm not sure what they could realistically offer the Bulls that would get Karnisovas to bite. The Bulls are much more likely to be buyers than sellers at this deadline and Lavine is an important part of their playoff push.

I agree that Grimes >>> Our FRPs in this class too. There are always a few guys that slip through the cracks, but I feel like I'm gonna have to hunt for Euro Tape to find the players I see the most potential in for our 18-30 ranged picks.

are you factoring in team control? Are we going to extend Grimes at this point?

If we aren't we basically have him under control for 1 more season and we are looking to diminish his role even farther by acquiring another guard. So even if you believe Grimes will be a better player early we have to make a decision on Grimes future soon.

I was rather take another shot at the end of the 1st this year and get that full rookie contract control if we don't think there is much of a future with Grimes gong forward.

I think the bird rights break it in favor of Grimes. This class won't have as much high-end talent, and that means it'll be harder to find gems. So having a guaranteed 3-and-D guy next year, plus his bird rights is better than the mystery box. Especially if Grimes can turn it around and rejuvenate some of his value. This is also factoring in that we could still trade him in the offseason or next trade deadline.

Katz appearing on KFS had a good point about Brogdon, injury wise. It's not "will he miss games this year" but what if Brogdon is in the big trade the Knicks have wanted to do and then Brogdon fails the other team's physical?" Trade is off. Which happened with Brogdon just recently.

Making me pause. I think he's a great fit otherwise

mpharris36 wrote:he's really not looked like that anymore...especially with only one more year on his rookie deal...a team wont value him more than a throw in late 1st round value.

oh no i hear you..but we gotta throw in as many younger plays as we can...i mean we really don't have much value besides all our picks

Brunson off limits
im guess his novoa boys Hart and divo are as well
Og prob off limits..we just gave up value for him

is randle on the block? will teams give value up for him? idk

Only players on our team with decent upside is Grimes

Maybe we can also throw in Mitch

Mitch, Grimes, ????? plus firsts

idk what we can even get for that but grimes is def the only young player on our team with upside

Be honest.... does cgf stand for Chicago's girl friend?

The looming CBA is a very real harsh reality for organizations that will make 1 way stars making over 40M on a long term deal a much much harder contract to keep on their books.

We are going to see some of these contracts get shed by teams more as salary dumps than getting a ton back.

Pistons have two of their top players in Cade and Ivey still on rookie deals they can potentially absorb that hit with some salary going back to Chicago like Stewart maybe.

Nah, "Chicago's Giant Fan". It was a bad pun from an American football board where I first started posting during the Eli Manning draft lol

The 2nd apron is harsh and I know we're hoping it means teams have to sacrifice talent, but Chicago just won't be a 2nd apron team next season. They'll have almost 60M under the 2nd apron with just DeRozan & Williams needing significant money.

So even if AK was dumb enough to send Coby & Pat out for DeJounte, then they could still give DeMar around 30M without sweating the super tax...so even swapping Lonzo's then expiring for Kuzma / Grant / Hunter, as well, wouldn't force them to give Lavine away.

Even if we do find a gem in this draft class, how likely is that kid to have meaningful value in a trade this summer...or even next season...if teams were just so down on them that we managed to draft them in the back third of this first round?

I think which would be more valuable, is a question that depends a lot on whether a bigger star will be available before Brundle sign new contracts...even if we do successful find the diamond in the rough of this class.

Hahahahaha so it DOES stand for Chicago lol

Nice bro.

What do you think of Bellichek becoming our next DC and riding into the sunset back where he started ? Obviously not a high likelihood but one can dream right?

Seems like the faves for the 3 remaining jobs are

Washington - Johnson
Seattle - Quinn
Atlanta - Vrabel/Slowik

Vrabel AND BB might be on the outside looking in

Yeah, it’s where we landed when we came to America, even though NYC always reminded me more of Berlin.

I lost interest in the NFL after the suberbowl wins. Just got sick of every season coming down to who had the least catastrophic injuries, and the way the league was run was a turn off…especially because the avs getting their s*** together satisfied my bloodlust.

Thansis coming here indirectly adds fuel to the fire that Randle gets traded. 1. Higher chance his brother would come play here and 2. Serves as some depth in case Randle goes for a different star like Embiid

Am I the only one who doesn’t think Miami is the boogeyman anymore? Don’t get me wrong their track record is fantastic and every time they go to the playoffs they flip a switch (Spo is brilliant and Butler is healthy).

But I wholeheartedly feel they are worse this season. Even watching the Memphis game last night Herro and Rozier were getting annihilated by Scottie Pippen Jr. Those are 2 high usage players that are traffic cones on defense.

Last year Miami had the 3rd best net rating in the playoffs and the #1 3PT shooting percentage. So much of their ball movement, floor spacing and general unselfishness was due to guys like Vincent and Strus who are no longer on the team. Caleb Martin had a much bigger role for them and was legitimately an X factor. Lowry is cooked now but he provided defense and timely shooting for them especially in the 2nd round. This Miami team right now is averaging 95 PPG over their last 7. They are 20th in 3s attempted as well as assists. Dead last in blocks and 27th in rebounding.

Not trying to poke the bear but I’m not sure they are invincible moving forward.

Not invincible but if they're going to be a problem, Rozier was exactly the kind of player they needed to become that. Super annoying trade on their part.

If it wasn't for the Giannis injury and Butler playing the games of his lifetime it would have been a first round exit for Miami anyways. And then Tatum got injured in game 7 as well. Miami played very good and they stepped up across the board but they had insane luck as well. Could have easily been a first round exit. Only against us they were really the better team and won deservedly (unfortunately).
