Like I have been saying...and just said in the Randle article...perhaps these guys financial situations aren't as important as winning it all. Winning it all in NYK uniform guarantees legendary status!! They ALL have many many many generations of wealth already in the bank. Perhaps they will take less to help the team, achieve the ultimate goal.

If this happens, Brunson sets the tone for everyone else. Giving up one year and 114 MILLION DOLLARS? LET THIS BE TRUE!

He's leaving $80m on the table over these 5 years if he does this...

1) Some extra security
2) Leon can build a sustainable title team with more flexibility
3) Brunson leading by example (wants Randle and OG to follow suit)
4) Brunson wants to retire as a Knick so he'd likely get another big "final" deal

This is out of Tim Duncan's and Dirk Nowitzki's playbook... partnership with the franchise to get titles and retire a Knick. Living out his dream life.

No impact this summer.

Otherwise, the extension would kick in during the summer of 2026 so it depends how all the other deals shake out and where the cap is at that time. But it gives us more flexibility when it happens for sure.

I've never been this excited about an NBA off season Cap
